Router Battery Backup

Gel batteries are suitable for any UPS that makes use of a constant current, constant voltage charger. If the capacity of the replacement battery is within 25% of the original, then that battery is also suitable.

But for another R14 you could have a PUP with automatic switchover from mains to battery (and back), battery charge indication, all enclosed in a high quality polycarbonate enclosure etc. Plug & forget!
(maybe I should sell a kit and let the customer to the assembly?)

Can you give us a link to the device?
 
Got my DC to DC buck converters from Banggood today. Now I just need to find a plug that will fit in my laptop :unsure:

sweet, looks like an upconverter, you going from 12v --> 19v ?
how many amps can that puppy handle?
 
oh and PS @cavedog if you cannot find a DC jack to your laptop just take existing one and cut it in half, put a DC connector between it and the power supply, there done and it works.
Now you have a lead to disconnect and put into your new DC converter to 12v battery as well.

Yes indeed. I want to go from 12v to 19v probably not very efficient as the laptop has one build in that charges the battery but there is nothing I can do about that but it should be better than an inverter or UPS.

The specs shows 3A so it's more than enough when I looked at my laptop charger max is 2A so 3A converter is more than enough. I bought 2 in case I need to run other stuff that is not 12V from a battery :)

Also looking at getting some decent LED strips from banggood or gearbest.

I did not want to cut it. I saw a plug a banggood but will probably just get one from Communica this coming weekend.

Yeah they got plenty. I wanted a display one and Communica charged like R180 for one with a display. Banggood for 2 with courier to my door and SARS customs was like R140.

Somewhere else to check is https://www.robotics.org.za/ (Micro Robotics) for those voltage converters and more, my favourite place :) no queues and silly ticket system and their prices not bad either.
