Router Battery Backup

Connected the Gizzu up to a Nokia ONT (12v) and TP Link Router (9v) at 12v. It wouldn't switch on at 9V. Is there any possibility of long term damage to keep it like this?

If you read up a bit in thread you will see I accidentally had my tp link router running at 12v for a year or two with no issues.
 
Bought myself one of these.

Problem however is that my HAP Ac2 is 12v any my TP Link SFP to LAN converter is 9v
Argh

I have a TP Link MC220L powered from a 9v adapter and the HAP AC2 is powered from a 12v adapter
You power the 12v HAP ac2 from the ups.
Then you use the Poe output port on it , and use a Poe splitter (less than R40) to power up the TP Link.

Mikrotik docs says the output voltage of the Poe port on router will be about 2v less than the Input voltage, so in essence you are using outputting 10v to the Tplink.

Need to check the ampere requirements though
 
Quick question guys, will I be able to power my Edgerouter X-SFP and Calix 844g with the Ratel 860P?

I see my Router and Modem requires the following
ER-X 24VDC, 2.5A (Supported Voltage Range 9 to 30VDC)
844G 12VDC, 2.5A (10 VDC min, 15 VDC max)

So will I be able to run the Ratel 860P at 12VDC, 2.5A, as there is only one connector? How will that affect the ER-X (there is a AP connected over POE to the ER-X)? Wish I knew more about this stuff.

The ER-X will use 5A at 12V, so you will have a max draw of 7,5A if you run both at 12V. This is the max, it should usually be much less. That is 90W power draw. What is the Ratel's capacity?
 
That only reaches 38V and 802.3af requires between 37.0 to 57.0 Volts at the powered device (48V ideal).
1 Volt headroom is cutting it really tight if one has to still add loses over cabling.

I bought a cheap buck boost converter from China (eBay) for my Ubiquiti UniFi AC Pro access point because I couldn't find one anywhere in South Africa for a reasonable (less than R200) price.
DC-DC 200W Buck Boost Module 6V-35V to 7V-55V for $6.80 and free shipping. Can't beat the Chinese on price. Just take the power figures with a pinch of salt.

I'm looking to do the same. Please can you explain how you used this in your setup? Did you use the Buck Boost Module along with a POE injector and if so, any particular brand? I've come across this but I don't know what I'm doing to be honest :)

Seems like the AC-PROs not suited for DC power / backup power without shelling out some serious tom. I've searched for hours for a cheap approach...

Thanks, the max capacity is 60W. Will that be fine, or should I try and get something stronger?

I highly doubt the er-x will use anywhere close to 60w. Probably closer to 30W combined for the two
 
So after a few stints of load shedding my 860P now drops to below 75% after one hour or so, powering the Vuma Raycore CPE, and MikroTik hAP ac2. Very minimal draw. Puts it on par with the Gizzu in terms of backup time. Surely there must be an issue with the batteries?
 
Any other UPS that matches the Ratel 860P? All the places only get stock at the end of September.

I was actually going to come and check with other users how longer-term use has been with the 860p. My setup is a bit more power hungry but i might remove the Rain CPE as it is a huge power draw
 
How is yours holding up?
From day 1 mine has always hit 50% after 2hrs (we get 2hr slots here) and that's with

1x5G CPE,
1xhAP ac2 ,
1x 5port gig switch,
1xWiFi AP

I forgot to check after last night 1hr shed from 9-10 but we're getting shed again at 1 today so will report after
