Router Battery Backup

Thanks. Will it work on my Dlink 825 & Frogfoot ONT?

Does it come with the required cables for both devices?

It comes with the normal DC points. You would need to source a DC to D-Link adapter for it to work on your D-Link router. It will work fine on the Frogfoot ONT.

I've been using a CCTV "UPS" with a lead acid battery for my ONT & router for a while. It works well and the battery (17Ah) has 3-4 times the capacity of the lithium based DC UPS units (Ratel, Gizzu, etc). The problem is the lead acid battery loses a lot of capacity over time due to frequent cycling.

I've seen posts saying they still get at least 2.5h after 1.5 years of use (on lithium UPS). Has anyone been using one of these for longer, and how much has the battery life degraded from when it was new?

Also, how quickly do these charge back up after load shedding? Do they charge fully in the 4h gaps we often get between load shedding slots?

Hi

Any recommendation on the following setup.

2 X Unifi AC Lite
1 X Tenda POE Switch ( 51V 1.25A )
Unifi USG ( 12v 1A )
ONT ( 12V 0.5A )
2 X Raspberry Pi ( 3B + & 4)

Im getting about 1 hour on a 850va ( 9ah Battery )

Thanks

Just another question to add to this: Does anyone have any experience hooking up an external charger to an alarm system battery? What charger did you use and did you hook it up directly, or through a relay?

how long you rate this runs an openserve ONT and standard afrihost router

It lasts a LONG time. It will even do 4 hour loadsheddings without batting an eyelid. I ran my ONT + NAS for over 4 hours, and the Gizzu reported that it still had 50% battery left. Remember that ONT and standard routers are quite economic, power-wise, so I can see it doing 8 hours without too much hassles. Recharging is also quite quick, once power returns.

8+ hours.

I still need arrange my staff unit so will collect it on Wednesday from Warehouse then I can give some numbers after testing.

I have 2 x 200Mbps Openserve lines on the same ONT so hoping to power at least the ONT and 1x Tenda or Huawei Router.

Check net hierdie ou met sy 2 x 200MBPS lyne. o_O

The Gizzu comes with a short cable/splitter of sorts, that fit all of my devices without any issues. It is highly advisable to get yourself a DC extension cable.

Damn with loadshedding kicking in I tried to use my Ratel 860p to power the ONT and router.
But they only supply one female-to-female splitter DC cable. I bought another male-to-female and tried to rewire it. But it doesn't fit the connection.

Anyone know where to get the right fit of female dc connections that can plug into both the ratel and ONTs / routers, so I can get a actually power both devices simultaneously as needed?

FWIW I can only get my Raycore CPE/ONT powered via the short splitter cable no other cables work.

Long extra cable supplied by Communica goes from Ratel output switched to 9v to Archer C20. Short splitter cable goes from one of the Ratel 12v outputs to Raycore.

My Sherlo PSU started doing a strange thing: It would drain the battery in 40min from fully charged.

I put a voltmeter on it and it looks like the PSU drains the battery down to 9.6v before it cut out itself. The battery then recovers charge back to 12.8-13.1v; the PSU doesn't kick on again unless power restores or I disconnect-reconnect the battery, when the drain cycle starts again.

I had the battery tested today at a Battery Centre and their tester shows the battery at 99% health.

I don't have a tester to measure the current draw. What's interesting is that the PSU drains power even when there is nothing connected to the 12v-outlets.

Running it on AC just runs the unit as normal. I cannot perceive anything that gets abnormally hot on the board in any state: Battery/AC.

Any ideas?

I got two of these units. Initial testing revealed some odd charging voltages on both with one unit cycling between charging at higher voltage, then lower voltage. Phoned Sherlo, and spoke to a tech there that advised I adjust the potentiometer.

No luck so far. Both units should act the same, within reason - they don't. I do not trust these units at all. Should actually return them.

I see their shop is in Northriding, which is a 20min drive from me. Prob is to find the time in the day to take the thing there...

How do you order one on the website/client zone? I can't seem to find it...

Hi Guys

So I'm looking to power the following for at least 2 hours , preferably more for breathing room.
Asus Router + ONT18 W / 12 V / 1.5A
Access point12V 1A
Access point12V 1A
Raspberry Pi 4b5v 3amp 6.4w

The Raspberry Pi would be nice to have powered as well, but can be tricky to find a device for 5v and 3amp.

I've found these which seem to be suitable. Will get 2.

Any reason why this would not be a good option?

Thanks in Advance!

I have the same setup, but I used a 45Ah battery that I got for cheap when they replaced the UPS batteries at work. So it had already worked for a few years, and I used it for at least 6 years after that. It finally packed up a year or so ago. Replaced it with a new 45Ah battery. We don't get multiple load shedding a day, but the battery is big enough to power my internet equipment for a few days. Even run 12V lights off it during load shedding.
