S6 explodes in my pocket

My MacBook's charger heats up when plugged in. Apple Core charged me R450 to tell me it is normal. A month later it stopped working and the same fellow said it had overheated. R 1595,00 for a new one. This lasted 6 weeks and failed. On and on

Great, and there me and my wife both have S6s. Sad thing is that I'm happy with every other aspect of the phone (esp the camera and screen), but we've both noted the same 'heating during charging' phenomenon. After this post and the S7 Note debacle, I'm not gonna stay with them.

All phones heat up when you charge them, iPhones, LG, OnePlus, ZTE, Samsung.

Don't get carried away here.

Yeah, but I've noticed that the S6's charging cable can get positively scalding at the point where it plugs into the phone. It doesn't seem like that Samsung fast charging is coming without a price.

Then use a slow charger, if that worries you.

The last serious issue with the Note 7 on the plane was not when it was being charged.

I have an S7 edge and often fastcharge, haven't had a problem.

Although I tend to use wireless charging overnight.

Did the S6 bend at all in your pocket ?

iPhones also explode when you bend them.

I can't see myself driving with a phone in my jeans. That must be uncomfortable if it's in the side top pocket.

This isn't a heat problem. This is air getting in where it shouldn't be.

Lithium + Oxygen = fireworks
It's typically the membranes between the positive and negative chambers/structure internally that short out for some reason, the battery starts overheating and then the lithium catches fire and then all hell breaks loose. Can also be due to other reasons but that's the most common - internal battery fault which cause short circuit, generates excess heat and then the lithium catches fire.

Has this story gone viral yet?

I'm really surprised the op hasn't sold it to the media houses as Samsungs catching fire are currently a very topical and newsworthy subject.

I use a Samsung fast charger with my LG G4, doesn't get overly hot. Most if not all of the recent burning Samsung issues seem to be battery structure related rather than batteries being overcharged.
