I don't think I'll ever see my 2x packages, lucky they were 'cheap' so I won't really cry too much.

South Africa IS the joke. The part where it states "minimal interruptions on our services", was good for a laugh.
Sadly, though, ultimately the joke is on us - the taxpayers.
Just got feedback of my order. Apparently it was returned and marked "prohibited." Wtf?
Nope, simple Vitamin D.Let me guess.....a blow-up doll?

Think I'd stick with what Mike says on this. Pharmaceuticals require a license and approval but supplements are exempted from being classified as pharmaceuticals. Customs are legendary for their ****ups. Just makes me mad I've now wasted 3 months.
So... should I order again? What are the chances the same could happen?
EDIT: Would DHL give less problems?
I'm aware of the MMC schedule. That only states what supplements may be sold in what quantities locally. The SARS list of prohibited goods is something different and lists medicines as prohibited without an import permit. Supplements are allowed and have never posed a problem. If a supplement is on the MCC schedule as medicine (some herbs are) they ask for a prescription though instead of prohibiting it outright. There is a schedule somewhere that lists some meds/supplements and what class they are. For example melatonin? (not sure how its spelled now) requires a doc prescription if you want to use it over a long term so they cant be ordered online and imported.

Oh and some vitamins in their pure form are also prohibited. Doesn't include in supplemental form and Vitamin D is also not listed among these.
For vitamin D go to bloody Dischem, don't care how much more expensive it is it's worth it to avoid SAPO and customs. Anything you can get local you get local...
PS: my £35 spent on courier over free postal delivery was worth every damn cent.
Locals only stock the weak 500-1000IU stuff. Recommended dose is up to 20,000IU so not really worth the cost. The softgels are also the only really effective form which nobody here stocks. Have seen these locally as import items at a cost of ~R800. Can import myself at $20 after tax for a 6 month supply.cool, so customs mucked up. You can always chat to DHL and see if what they say before you order. Why not buy it locally?
Any other means to get tracking info on an international parcel. I just need the local tracking #
