I should have the device tomorrow morning according to DHL. You do, of course, have to pay tax. I got a phonecall from DHL earlier to say it is R750 VAT plus a R80 'disbursment' fee. No idea what that fee is for to be honest.
So the total cost for the device should be £415 + £25 + R830
Which I guess is cheaper than what the UK pays for it, since they pay £515.99 with their tax. (20% I believe, we get the 14%)

Right, got it this morning - been using it all day since it came with half charge.
It's easily the best phone I've seen so far, everything works really well. The speed of the device is really something to see.

Works wonderfully on the vodacom network, with the nice H+ showing up and giving 5mb download speeds. I'll post up some speedtest results on vodacom+cellc soon.

Congrats man.. wishing you many happy hours with that beast. Have you managed to test out the GPS, im coming from the Omnia HD and the built in Garmin is awesome so im hoping the SGS2 is decent as well.

On the site it says "Our Price: £515.99 £429.99 exc vat" did you get it ex vat?
Quick tests on the GPS had it working perfectly, but I'll need to test it on some longer trips to really know anything.
As to the VAT - that is UK VAT. You obviously don't pay it since you aren't in the UK. You will however pay normal SA VAT when it lands here in SA. Or at least I did.

To impatient to do the waiting thing. Ordered one on Friday, but I think it makes a lot more sense to wait for the local launch. If you want to buy try to do it via Paypal. Some kind of recourse if something goes wrong.
From Handtec, www.handtec.co.uk . The price is 429.99 pounds exc. vat. plus 25 pounds for shipping. The do not charge vat but I think customs in SA will nail me for VAT. Hope for the best. They missed me a few times in the past

No need, according to their web page there is no stock. So it's back in the waiting game. When I made the payment on Friday they had stock, but now it's gone.
