Hi Guys,

I have searched around but cannot find an answer to my question. Does it matter if you flash a ROM/Firmware that is meant for a different country if it is unbranded?

Are there any advantages to flashing the relevant Firmware/ROM for SA or disadvantages to flashing an unbranded Firmware/ROM meant for a different country?

I am thinking of flashing this ROM but just wanted to check first - http://wanamlite.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=375

Back in the day when i used Samsung ROMS ;) i downloaded a ROM meant for somewhere in Europe, must have been Hungary..it was in the early days of leaked ICS ROMS. It worked 100% with no issues. The only issue you MIGHT find is that the radio included in the ROM doesn't work as well on SA networks and in that case you can just download a radio that works better (LPS comes to mind)

Also as someone on XDA recommended to me. If you experience radio problems. ie signal drops. Download GetRIL on the market and see if its not mismatched (RIL / baseband )which can cause problems. Use the program to fix if necessary.

No SA APN's with RR 3.0.2 JB, can't seem to add them either, after entering it all manually and tapping menu & save the APN list is still blank? So NO 3G/H+ data!

APN backup and restore doesn't work because Android v4+ versions apparently don't allow 3rd party apps to write APN's.

Thanks, tried it and it works pretty well. Anyone else here tried it? I can't get it to set an alarm. Anyone else?

Mine seems to be fine, Stock clock and i use Smarter Alarm both working

I cannot comment on 3G (We just get EDGE here) but my data is fine in Super Nexus

Anyone else running Resurrection Remix 3.0.2 JB can check if their data works and if their APN's are set?

Ive noticed this on a few roms but then after a reboot the apns appear normally.

Ran RR 3.0.2 last night.After installing another reboot is required to get data signal.All is working well.Vodacom APN is present.RR 3.0.2 doesn't go into Deep Sleep for me though so have reverted back to RR 3.0.1.It spends most its time in the 500mhz state when it should be sleeping.If anyone has a fix for this issue with 3.0.2 please let me know..

I had this same issue..all you need to do is use Titanium backup to freeze Romcontrol and the Update Me app, they are the cause of wakelocks in RR 3.0.2. I did and I have no more severe battery drain or wakelocks

I'm using RR 3.0.2 JB with Siyah 4.0.1, no issues here regarding APN's, got 3 MTN APNs listed.
Data working as well... Maybe re-flash the ROM and have a look again.

As kfler said, freeze RomControl & UpdateMe via TitaniumBackup, and deep sleep is back and the battery drain is gone liek the wind ;) AFAIK, they are working on a patch that will be released either today / tomorrow in v3.0.3...

So far, I have to say, I really REALLY, like JellyBean, esp. the RR ROM, I use it as my daily driver and got not problems with it. Its stable and bloody fast for me, IMHO :twisted:

Mate of mine on RR3.0.2 and Siyah 4.0.1 can't see his external sd card. We tried directory bind (works fine on my phone with same rom and kernel). Directory bind used to work well on previous versions of RR and Siyah when the external sd was mapped to emmc. Now that it is mapped to extSdCard, we can't get it to load.

Can you see the external sd in your file explorer?

Yip, I can see, use - read/write, to it, no problems
My locations is as follows:

Internal SD --> /storage/sdcard0
External SD --> /storage/sdcard1
USB Stick --> /storage/usbdisk0

Hope the above helps.

Cheers
