Assuming you are NOT on a secondary rom (when using Siyah or Dorimanx kernels) and that you are working from primary/only rom - this is what I do....

Look for CWM on your phone (you should have this if you are rooted)
Open CWM
Scroll down and select "Flash update"
Navigate to the .zip file and select it
Select "Flash"
Wait for about 20 secs
The phone will reboot automatically
Enjoy ...

See a couple of posts above

Saw that, but the link you supplied looks like it is done via Odin and not in the CWN recovery mode which that post refers to. If id do it via Odin do I just select PDA and select the file and flash?

The only link I provided was for the modem ... and it is a CWM flashable file. I might be mistaken, but files to be flashed with Odin, ends with .tar (correct me if I am wrong)

I edited my post above yours ...

You are right, i had the files mixed up. I am not rooted yet. Will go through the thread and see if I can figure it out.

How do you flash the modem?

I recently updated to ICS 4.0.4 which caused my internet to die. A simswap temporarily fixed it but I have intermittent connection to the internet ever since.

My current baseband version is: XXLQ6.

Thanks.

Ok. I downloaded the following: http://get.cm/?device=i9100&type=nightly. Is this all I need to root or am I missing files?

I don't think you can flash CM withouth being rooted first.

Flash a rooted kernel first. Read carefully, search for your kernel and flash with Odin

I have not done it ever, but I think you can flash a modified kernel like Siyah with Odin and it will give you root. I use Siyah 4.1.4. Download the .tar version here. I always flashed CF-Root first ......

Remember - there is alwys a risk of bricking your device, so do this at your own risk

So installed Jelly bean, went with Resurrection Remix, Siyah kernal and LPS.

Very nice so far! Much more responsive than ICS (was using miui 2.9. something).
Really loving it!

I did have some missions though :)
Being me I opted to format my emmc thinking I could just mount it to copy the new rom on from my PC whilst in CWM...
Hahahaha big mistake..
So I had to download the stock ICS rom, flash via odin, then flash the CF root. and then flash remix..
What mission.. but totally worth it :)

Ok, I am now rooted. Did it via CF-root as you suggested.

I mistakenly posted it with the Rootbox Rom post thinking it was included. But it's not: Completely inverted Google-Apps (including Themed drop box, drive and currents) Installer called JustinBean Aroma. Busy downloading, shall be reporting soon.

Note: Android 4.1 only.

Anyone else find the RR jellybean roms really unstable? I've had problems with every version so far, the camera app for example freezes the whole time, it's really really annoying.

WELCOME to the flashjunky world!!!

I assume your phone is working as it should ... ???

If you want to flash the modem, follow the steps in Posr #6543

Phone is still working. How do I get rid of the yellow triangle which shows up when you switch the phone on/reboot?
