Might be an app that uses location based services, or tracking? Just hold in Home button, it will bring up Task Manager and then you can kill all open apps.
You can also go to Settings > Applications > All and uninstall all the updates for Maps, then reboot the phone and install it again.

get an app called "autostarts" allows you to control which apps are allowed to be triggered and run in background. this what i did with maps, facebook, etc..

Btw I am gonna flash Alliance ROM now, which kernel is top these days? Still Siyah? or is there a better more battery friendly kernel?

I noticed something interesting tonight.... been using my phone the whole day & battery life after 16 hours is at 68 percent. :wtf:
All I did was to untick 'notify me when updates for my apps are available' in the Play Store settings last night, cos I am on a flimsy data bundle.
So it looks like the Play Store service acts as an extra mail account to poll the store every X minutes/hours to check for updates?
Very happy with the increased battery life.

Interesting. I'm going to try that myself. I only ever update from home anyway.
Been trying out RR for a while and I feel it starts out super smooth and quick and then slowly becomes more buggy and slow. Anyone know of any other ROMs that offer similar speed without the negatives ?

I have RR JellyBean 3.8 installed and I get a lot of slowdown if I've had my phone for a while. A reboot fixes this pretty quick, but it is annoying. This ROM is still in heavy development so this is to be expected.
That was actually supposed to be 3.0.8, but seriously people, get out of the ark, version 3.0.9 is out already based on AOKP build 4. Tsss ;-)
BTW, for those using evernote, check in settings cause it's also updating it's database every hour, so set it to once a day.

Lol. I was actually wondering how they got from 3.0.6 to 3.8, see now they screwed the version numbers up

I'm still on CM9.1 and I can't imagine changing it anytime soon. It's soooooo smooth I can't stop flicking the screens round and round

I don't. It takes away the lovely screen.
I use a pouch but then just take the phone out of it when I wanna use it.
