Just makes the screen fuzzy, not as responsive as it should be and more difficult to see in direct sunlight.

I use it. I managed to get the clear ones. For me there is no difference in responsiveness. With some roms you can set the responsiveness very sensitive so if that was a problem for you, then it can be set more sensitive. I checked my screen against a mate of mines without a screen protector and there is no difference in clarity. The problem is that it was difficult to get a proper clear screen protector, but I guess I was lucky.

I totally agree with you with regards to the anti glare protectors - they really take a lot away from this awesome screen.

When I receive a picture from someone, it reads "Download" in the message center. When I click on it, it changes to "Downloading", then goes to "Download" after a while. Where do I view this picture?

You should be able to click on it to view it, otherwise check the gallery, if its not there then it didn't download

I've used this phone extensively for over a year with no screen guard. It has fallen etc. No scratches whatsoever.

That is what I figured. Some people are quite adamant on using a screen protector though.

I used one on my old XT720 until it came off after a year or so. Then I realized, hey, this is Gorilla glass and should be scratch resistant...

Needles to say I left it off and immediately saw an improvement in the handling and colours.

Got a nice "leather" case for my S2 and it should last for a good couple of years.

From my experience, best is to have a cover/case that can handle a "face down" drop. See the edges of my cover that protrude a few millimeters all around the screen? It's a "screen saver".

Happened to me the other night, phone fell on ground, face down, and had absolutely no damage. Here's my case :

Two people at work dropped their S3's and in both instances whole screen was mucked up. They were both using a case & the phone slipped out somehow.

But from what I've seen, the S2 is much more drop resistant than the S3.

I was also using a case, Case Mate Tough. For the last couple of days I have been using the ferrari tough case which I had since last year. I must say, the phone now feels lighter and it's not bulky. I have a screen protector which I think makes the phone less responsive sometimes.

You are all probably right with specific regards to the toughness of the Gorilla glass - I am just a lil too paranoid to remove the protector ... maybe in a couple of month's time when it is due for replacement.

Back on the responsiveness topic - Can those of you who have CM9 (and perhaps on CM10 too), please set the screen sensitivity to max. If memory serves me correct, you don't even have to touch the screen in order to "click" an option - your finger just need to be close to the screen. I have tested so many roms, but I can not remember which one it was with this setting. I guess the huge draw back for this would be battery drain.

It pulls in bits from both CM10 and AOKP, but I'm still on the fence on it being better than. It has stayed quick though.

I seem to have an issue with all these ROMs, in that they have periods of lag - coming out of standby, for example, sometimes lags horribly until it is up and running. I need to look at my settings, I think. It idles at 600MHz at the moment, and that might be slowing responsiveness.

To add my voice to those above, I don't use a screen protector. No issues at all. I do have a Tough Case though, and that has saved my bacon a few times.

I read somewhere that that programs like task killer etc can cause this. What happens is that the apps/services gets cleared from RAM and then the phone must re-load it everytime the app/service is required. I think the S2 has 826MB RAM. Some think that if they clear the RAM the phone will be more responsive, but in fact the opposite is true. The RAM is there to be used. If you get to the point where you are reaching 800MB RAM usage, then you should get worried because the phone will start swopping out apps/services based on priority and then lagging can occur. So check if you have any task killer running - that might be the cause for your current problem

Nothing that I've installed. GB, ICS and JB do a good enough job on their own, unlike earlier iterations. I'll have to look further though - Jelly King comes with an optional patch (for power users) that I may reflash to remove, and see if that has an effect.

And here lies the irony....the person who buys the phone from you in, say a years time, will basically get a phone with a brand new screen.

Only he/she will be able to appreciate the great display of the S2.

I have never had a cover on my phone. I don't understand why you would get such a beautiful thin phone and hide it in a bulky cover. My phone had many harsh falls though, swung into a wall, 5m drop on to concrete. It is still well.

Personally I prefer the Capdase cover on my S2, just gives it much better grip, especially in summer.

Pity Samsung only figured out the rounded curves a bit later, as the S2 can become uncomfortable to hold in your hand after a few minutes. The S3 just feels SO much better to hold in my hand....and feels smaller than the S2. :wtf:

Maybe it's just Samsung messing with my mind.

Yep, I just tried it. I'm on CM9.1 and set to the lowest setting of 10, you can 'click' from 2 or 3mm away.

I never really noticed the round corners thing, but hey I had a S3 it felt a bit big but then I typed something on it and even with the stock keyboard it felt so good and even easier to type. I think I want one.
