Samsung Galaxy S2

+1. I prefer the straight back look, and the extra heft makes the phone feel even more premium. The camera lens is also protected by the slight recess. Should have been the default, in my opinion.

Can't agree more! My phone looks beautiful with the new cover on & it just feels great!

Only reason why Samsung went with the thinner back, is to make the claim for the thinnest phone.

Same with me. I am interested to know why certain modems are more battery hungry than others. I know in areas with bad reception modems work harder when looking for 3G and GSM, but I've heard before that certain modems are more hungry irrespective the settings and was hoping you perhaps had an answer

Have you guys disabled fast dormancy by any chance?

question:
i've just flashed my phone with resurrection 3.1.2 and had a hard time figuring out why it inverted the colours all of a sudden (what a daft feature). how do i force my phone to stay on 3g/hsdpa until i say otherwise? i often get swapped to edge and then the internets dies.

The inverted colours is a feature that you can disable (Settings -> Kernel & Performance -> scroll to the "Screen", then scroll down and uncheck "mDNIe Negative Toggle"). It's there to help out with battery life, mostly when using the browser.

To force your phone to use HSDPA only, you can dial *#*#4636#*#*, select Phone Information, scroll down to the dropdown under "Set preferred network type" and select WCDMA only. But it means that when you are not in 3G-capable areas, your signal vanishes.

Mkay... Somehow I can't use dialler commands like *#1234#. I'm on LSJ (Sammy JB leak). Anyone else have the same problem?

EDIT: *111# works. I read on XDA that on JB, most codes are "switched off" to prevent a vulnerability.

I also flashed LPS modem, but it didn't solve the problem.

My dialer commands work. I'm on Vodacom.

I've now completely switched off Auto Brightness on my Jelly Bean Test ROM & the other option under Display, called "Auto Adjust Screen Tone" as well. Whatever it is, it aint' working. My JB ROM is the king of tormentors for any battery. :p

Dammit, I cannot wait for the official S2 Jelly Bean ROM. It's gonna be EPIC.

I see samfirmware.com has removed the Samsung Jelly Bean Test ROM from their Top 10 downloads page for the S2, glad I could still grab it.

Maybe Samsung was not too happy that we are already enjoying the JB goodness. :p

How you guys finding the battery life on the JB leaked rom? I tried the wanamlite version and battery went from 100% to 50% while I was sleeping :wtf:. Had to switch back to ICS for now.

I'm also on Vodacom.
Which version are you using? Stock, Omega, Salasale's Neat?
Kernel and version?
Did you freeze any apps?
And what mods did you load?

I just loaded the PDA, CSC & modem of the test ROM in Odin 3.04 & that was it.

I interpret that as Samsung will release their official ROM soon.

Darnit... I reflashed the fw and it worked fine... This means I froze/deleted something I shouldn't have. Just restored my backup now but, tomorrow I must redo everything. :(

EDIT:
I love how one can fix issues in a simple way. :D (Thanks kingrob for your input coz that prompted me to try the simple way first)
I must first say MOBILE ODIN PRO FTW!!! I opened the leak fw in Mobile Odin Pro. I chucked CSC into cache, selected the modem, Frankensteined the whole thing with PhilZ kernel and then removed the data bit because that would cause a wipe and you result in you having to redo everything from scratch.

RESULT: The codes work in the dialler!!!! :p
