And I agree 150% with you!

Geez, for the Gingerbread release we only got 2.3.4, while most countries got 2.3.6!

I wonder why our service providers are so lax?

The Gingerbread updates had no relevance to us here in SA.

Edit: on second read...It might have had relevance.

It actually had.

Do you know that the last Italian 2.3.6 ROM actually had an ICS type lockscreen and much improved wifi? And no country specific apps?

Well, there were lots of small differences between 2.3.4 & 2.3.5 as well. For me, the most useful one was that the Dutch 2.3.5 ROM google calendar included Gmail contacts' birthdays.
 
Just a little update wrt battery life. Standard battery i am seeing 15hours with quite a bit of WiFi usage. With the extended battery I got a personal best of 2 days admittedly with me using the phone quite sparingly. Slim 4.2.2 ftw

You can easily do two days with the extended battery on normal use.
 
I've got a sweet car dock set up that I'm doing next month when the parts arrive. I'm using cables that aren't even available in SA! :D Anyway, I'll post pics of the process and may make a demo video to post here as well.

Sounds interesting.

I just dock my S2 in the car holder, makes it easy to check messages, etc as well while it's charging.
 
So going to give the UK firmware a try...

Just placed an order for an extended battery from the orange store. Expected time: 33 days. FML :cry:
