Are there any ROM's/kernels that support 64GB micro SD cards?

If so, what ROM's, and exactly which make/model of SD cards are supported?

I am wanting to get a SanDisk Ultra microSDXC 64GB Class 10, but I'm not sure if it'll work at all, or if I'll get access to all the memory if it kinda works.

I have the Omega v23 ROM, and Siyah kernel.

There are reports & a YouTube video that shows the 64GB Sandisk SD card does work with the S2, but when you boot up first time with it, the phone won't recognize it. However, when you use the phone to format the card then, it will pick it up as a 64 GB card.

*I take no responsibility if it doesn't work, I played it safe with a 32GB SD card. :)

See this dude's advice as to how to format the 64GB SD card with the S2 :

j.holgate Says :
Here's my specs:

Mac 4x2.5 GHz PowerPC G5 1 GB RAM OS 10.5.8
Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777 Android OS 4.0.4 AT&T (USA)
SanDisk 64 GB microSDHC (Class 10 UHC-1 whatever)

Put the microSD card in my phone and I got error "Blank Card." Tried to format through phone - nada. It would say "Checking Card" then go back to "Blank Card." Tried formatting through computer (via a card reader.) First time I tried Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) No luck. Then I tried formatting the card first on the computer as MS-DOS (FAT) THEN putting it in my phone to format via my phone. Bingo! Hooked up my phone to my Mac via data cable, transferred some files over and tested: audio via doubleTwist. Check. Some digital comics via Comicrack. Check. Took a picture (via Vignette camera app,) save to SD storage. Check.

Double-checked to make sure everything works the way it's supposed to and it does. So the moral of the story is if your phone doesn't immediately recognize the card, you may have to format it (to FAT) first on your computer (I'm assuming Windoze would have something similar,) then reformat it again in the phone so that it formats the way it's supposed to. Hope that helps...

What is your 32GB formatted as? I read somewhere that those cards only want to be formatted as exFAT

I used my phone to format it, and it must be FAT32, cos it won't copy anything bigger than 4GB. :(

Why do people use antivirus software on their phones? Unless you are clicking random links or installing malicious 3rd party apps why would you need it?

*honest question*

Anti-Virus companies want to cash in on the mobile generation, so they spread this fear on the internet, prompting people to buy the anti-virus software.

My question to anyone who has installed the anti-virus software - how do you actually know it's working at all?

Ok well haven't you heard that apps don't have to be approved to get put onto the play store, (unlike the iStore), so there have been some apps that have been out for months before its discovered that it's actually a virus.

So, how do you tell if the 3rd party app is a malicious app? Or do you just install google apps?

I normally check ratings/reviews... And I don't do banking on my phone, especially not with a 3rd party keyboard.

Chainfire wrote a "friendly" bug which exploited the Exynos vulnerability for people to check. AVG picked it up.

I still don't see the need for anti-virus on Android.

The golden rule :

Only install apps from the Play Store.

If there is a malicious app, Google will pick it up and remove it from your phone remotely.

That's all there is to it really.

However, if you install custom ROMs, you are on your own.

True, but rather safe than sorry. I probably don't need it that much anymore since I don't flash nearly as much as I used to.

I've been using Android since December 2010 (HTC Desire HD) and never had any problems.

Mucked around with Cyanogen Mod on my Galaxy Ace, it was cool for a while, but got bored of it (long downloads and running into errors).

Now all I want is a reliable phone that works 100% & the offical JellyBean ROM has never ever given me any problems.

*Got nothing against people flashing custom ROMs, but I use my phone as a business tool, so it needs to be reliable and not crap out when I need it to work.

64GB? Eish, what is it you want to load on your phone? Ever since I got a Nokia N8 I stopped using microSD. 8GB internal is more than enough for me.

How is 8GB enough?! My photo's alone are 8GB.

All my albums are in FLAC. ~2-3 albums per GB.. That means some artist's discography can't even fit on 8GB...

Then there's series, movies, and music and other youtube video's.
One HD movie alone can be more than 8GB.

PDF's too.

Are we seriously having this conversation?

Maybe he just puts on his phone what he needs and not use it as a NAS which you seem to prefer.

I have to agree with you. Everyone's needs are different. I have 64GB and even that's not enough for me since I always have at least one nandroid backup (5GB), app backups (1 - 2GB), music (3GB) and don't forget games which can take up 1 - 2GB each. Then there's movies and videos and various download files and documents.

Depends :
Are you seriously watching 8GB of photos on your phone?
Are you seriously watching HD movies on your phone?
Are you seriously hearing a difference between 192kbps AAC and FLAC on your phone?

Maybe he just puts on his phone what he needs and not use it as a NAS which you seem to prefer.
At last - someone with some sense!

Its a phone, a portable media player if you push it. There is no need to put 720p movies on it because the screen is 480p and too small. Even if you have a MHL adapter like I do the phone cannot output quality high enough to justify gigabytes of HD content.
