Yes I saw that, but 4 different apps could be a new clock, calendar, battery monitor, sms client etc..
\troll :p

you should know better

I came to this thread with a very friendly approach

Im not slating this phone, I was just expecting it to rape my iPhone when it came to smoothness.

so what gives?

and was quite clear in the above by acknowledging that the S2 should rape my phone and that Im not slating it at all, so I came here for answers to my confusion.

but your short-sightedness and insecurity on your new toy has just pissed me off

anyway, home time... cheers

Hahaha sigh, if you really get that worked about something, you should get a BB lol..
We all know the hardware of an SGS2 owns an Iphone. But apps are often more refined for the iphone due to the stricter controls imposed by apple. I was simply saying try apps that are designed to take full use of the phones capabilities. IMDB is a rather crap choice of app to try test a phones power.

Hi Guys

How are you finding the battery life on your phones? My battery hasn't lasted for more than 11 hrs. This is with very little use (mostly checking emails, fb and twitter). My battery stats shows that my screen was on for less than 70min during this time. I have also stoped alot of the samsung apps using titanium backup. The general feel that I get from everyone is that I should be getting at least 18hrs with moderate usage. Is it possible that my battery or phone is faulty? I have also tried a few different roms, but not even this solves my problem. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thx!

Unless I read something incorrectly, his gripe was with IMDB actually scrolling, lag with that? If that's the case then clearly the problem is with the application, I can't see the app taxing the phone ta all, and the phone is blazing fast.

And god damn, the screen on this thing is just.. beyond words. Even black is completely BLACK, it's amazing. My 22" LCD is looking at my S2 and weeping! HTC_Guy has a point about the iPhone being metal, but the S2 is a sturdy phone, I'd love it in brushed black aluminum though :D

I'm still on stock firmware (waiting for my jig/time) and my screen is always at 100% brightness (easier on the eyes) and I get approx a day so far with quite a lot of usage. I only got it on Sunday though, and I have charged a bit at work/home so I can't really accurately say how my hours are yet because I'm playing with it and charging it all the time :P

Only thing I'd suggest is to calibrate your battery when flashing, that's what all the forum guys say.

Just out of interest, anyone know the cost of a GENUINE new battery? Might be nice to keep a spare if it's not too expensive.

Does this phone come with the hdmi cable or must it be bought seperately? Would also like to know if i can connect my ps3 to the s2 via usb for when im transferring mp3's or videos that i recorded? I was at the vodashop to get the phone today but the sales guy advised me to wait until monday when the new contract prices will come into effect. Im currently using a nokia 5800, just hoping the s2 will play nicely with my ps3 since i dnt have a computer for when i need to transfer files!

Have I got any shot of getting this thing on vodacom top up 135?

Is it possible to change the default homescreen to another number; from 1 to 4; left to centre??

No you will need to buy the mhl adapter for hdmi.
And yes you can use it with your ps3 via usb.

No way you'll get a nearly R6000 phone on a top up 135. If you do you'll have a R3000+ pay in.

That's exactly what I did. I don't make many calls, so the R135 towards data helps a lot. Plus I'd rather pay up front while I know I have the cash at hand.

Im an idiot. I dropped the phone on concrete :'( The gorilla glass, she broke...

OUCH :(

I"m insuring mine soon, gonna cost R89pm with my insurance company, chepaer than doing it via Vodacom, but probably a good idea (TM).

hi guys,

ok, i dont know if it was in this thread or another, but someone mentioned es file explorer and stream music/vids etc from pc to phone...
can someone elaborate on the how to...
i have managed to connect to my pc with it, after putting up a password on my username, but i dont usually have a password on my pc(username) and es file explorer requires authentication via LAN... is there a way i can do this without putting up a password on my username on me pc?...

after much decisions, i have stuck to villain rom, battery life is just amazing... i have rather taken the explore the phone route now, hehe and what else can this phone do route :)

ok, so I've got an answer to my own question :) :

1)Go to Control Panel - Network And Internet - Network And Sharing Centre - Change Advanced Sharing Settings - Find Password Protected Sharing and Turn off password protected sharing - Save Changes.

with this above settings, you can login Anonymously... you just have to set the appropriate permissions on the actual shared folders...

That's what I got it on..was hoping for topup 200 but because it's my first contact I was limited to 135. The pay in is fairly steep ~R4000 but I'd rather pay up front and the phone is DEFINITELY worth it!!
