Good find. Thanx

Don't know if this means anything, but Tapatalk is currently free in Samsung apps (R23.44 in Android Marketplace). Asphalt 6 HD is also free currently. Just thought I should maybe give a shoutout...

Hi, i just wanted to make sure if there where no network issues with the phone and cell C, havnt heard anything about them, and keen to move over there for this phone and package,

I found this http://www.ps3za.co.za/forum/showthread.php?t=80897, (but i just realized the date it was posted now was before it was officially released there in SA).

Also does any1 know if USB teethering works properly on the stock Kernal/Version friend of mine told me he heard people saying it didnt work

Regards

Go mine on Cell C and it is working great. The Cell C coverage where I live is miles better than Vodacom (my previous operator) and the deals were considerably better. The only issue I found (which apparently is common to stock Android) is the ability to use AdHoc networks, i.e. tethering to another phone) this is easily fixed once the phone is rooted.

Howzit..my phone is rooted, but how do you easily fix the issue in order to connect to an Ad Hoc network? I really need this! One laptop is already connected to the AdHoc network, can the phone still connect as well?

Anyone flash XWKI8 Frankenstein with South African csc? Currently on XXKI3 with South African csc

I did 2 days ago, the 'normal' Frankenstein version, no problems so far...

Cool and with the OJVKF3 csc package or the uk one that came with the KI8?
Also the frankenstein doesnt add to your custom binary count if I am correct? It leaves it as 0 right?

It was the UK one that came with it. It does add to your binary count, however. What it does, is that it does remove the inability to reset the binary counter...

Thought I should share my mini experience, perhaps someone could corroborate?

Flashed to the newly released stable version of Cyanogen (Android 2.3.7) today. Had a small heart attack when the screen was stuck at the boot logo; after going back into CWM, clearing cache and data (again) and flashing the Cyanogen ROM again, it worked.

It was so pretty and for a while I felt like a super duper Android dude.

Too bad I couldn't find the market app to download Titanium to do a restore, and the xda forums went on about how some people were struggling with the camera and gallery (and some other stuff) anyway, so I just restored back to the trusty 'ol stock ROM. Maybe I'll give it another try at a later stage...

I did like how the ROM allows you to customise so many extra aspects of your user experience. I found it particularly cool how you could add/subtract the number of columns and rows in your home screens. Also liked its speed!

Has anyone tried Cyanogen with success?

Has anyone perhaps tried AndroidMeda-Hyperdroid, and how did you find it to be?

I used CM on my HD2 but did not like it so not bothered on my SGS2 - yet. I have contemplated giving it another whirl as it has been a while so much has probably changed.

I was using CheckROM v5 and flashed HyperDroid when it was released as Hyperdroid was my fav on the HD2. IMO it was not as smooth as CheckROM so rolled back. I am watching the Hyperdroid thread with keen interest though.

I started a Q&A on XDA and the guys there were saying that the Frankenstein does not add to your binary counter as it is samsung signed. But my counter is still on 0 so I am going to flash the nordic KI8 and then flash the csc and it will remain on 0.

Thx! I also found Hyperdroid a little not so smooth...perhaps I'll give Checkrom a whirl myself too :-)

This question may be juvenile, but what's the best way for you to keep track of a XDA thread? Do the email subscriptions work for you, or do you regularly check up on the thread via pc or app?

I use Tapatalk Premium dude. The threads I want to watch I star, and then enable notifications in Tapatalk.
Also subscribe to you favorite forums (long press and subscribe) and check them from time to time for new threads.
Sometimes a popular ROM thread well have a new thread created when the thread gets too big or the dev pushes out a major release. Out a new ROM is created.
