Is there anyway to remove the flash counter having stock vodacom ics on. My triangle went away, but I can't get rid of the flash counter. I have triangle away on my phone but that didn't work, and the jig also didn't take it away.

If you flash the old Gingerbread bootloader (using Odin), the jig will work again: http://androidfirmwares.net/Tools/Download/4 - but I don't know if doing this might cause some other problem.

i updated yesterday ota how i wish didn't battery drain is mad ,not even a day then i need to change again also the play store not showing any pics of the apps not sure if when it updated the store didnt it really sucks .

Hey guys, I very recently started getting an error on my phone. When NOT on charge it comes up with an error "Charging paused. Voltage too high". You then press OK and it goes away but after a minute or two comes back and this continues until I put it back on charge or sometimes replacing the battery helps and it doesn't show again for a few hours. When this message comes up the batt icon also starts flashing continually.

I have googled and gone through many threads on XDA and elsewhere but nobody seems to have an answer, some swear it's hardware and others swear it's software. Most have it sent in and get it repaired under warranty.
I want to send mine in but would like to have the custom binary counter reset just in case, does anyone here have a jig that lives in pta and wouldn't mind helping me? Would really appreciate it.... please PM me otherwise I might miss it if somebody offers.

-> I have tried all the 'fixes' I have read on the various sites and none worked for me.

Which ROM and kernel are you running?

You don't happen to be on Vodacom do you? The Play Store problems seems to only happen on Vodacom.. I have seen this on other ICS phones as well using Vodacom.
According to XDA:
Go to your APN settings (Settings-> More-> Mobile Networks-> Access Point Names), go to the Vodacom APN, select it, scroll to the proxy and clear it. The images should load.

Alternatively:
Settings- Applications- All tab- Google Play Store- Clear Data. Hope this helps.

The battery will take a day of two to settle, just be patient...

Thanks for the fix mate!

For the ignorant among us, what app be this? :o

JuiceDefender is a powerful yet easy to use power manager app specifically designed to extend the battery life of your Android device. Packed with smart functions, it automatically and transparently manages the most battery draining components, like 3G/4G connectivity and WiFi.

Thanks for all the info. Good reading for this ignorant soul.

Somewhere i read the S3 launch date is begin June. From previous phone upgrades do u guys reckon there will be an immediate drop in price from the service providers on contract for the S2?

Edit: I saw 8ta has it on special! R3600 prepaid and then I'm just gonna upgrade or rather downgrade to a cheap contract with MTN.

Is there any other phone better then the S2 to get instead as this phone is a year out already, but still it looks awesome to me! Im having a Nokia N8 atm and I just hate it. Haha

My personal opinion SGS2 won't be outdated so soon it's an awesome phone probably the best I'll ever own :-) remember there are so many different ROMS & updates to choose from... so my guess the Samsung galaxy S2 will stick around for sometime :-)

thanks got it working after restart

And now Telkom direct in Bloem has no stock. Just my lucky day. And they don't expect to get new stock either.

Hey guys,

I downloaded the ICS firmware using CheckFUSdownloader. Was wondering if I use odin to flash my phone now will I loose all my Apps?

KIES is giving me so much grief, it does not want to reconise my phone no matter what I tried. Gives a USB error, googled it and a lot of people are having the same issue

JuiceDefender actually gave me headaches. Messed around with my 3G and refused to be uninstalled. I had to eventually remove it using Total Commander.

Agree with you.

Best battery life you'll get, is if you leave Android alone to do its thing.

As soon as you start messing with power saving plans, battery apps, you'll actually experience worse battery life.

I've yet to find an app that makes my SGS2 break into a sweat. :)

Firmly believe that the Galaxy S2 will still be going strong in two years time.

Got the dreaded echo again last night and decided it's time to fix my phone.

Opened up the phone and halfway through, I started sweating a bit, cos I'm messing around with an expensive phone here. :wtf:

When I took the rubber casing off the top microphone, I saw the microphone was covered with a thin piece of film. Took it off, put all the screws, volume buttons, back cover back on and phoned a few people.

They said it's the clearest the phone has ever sounded and there's no echo! Hooray!! :D

Don't think I'm gonna open up my phone again anytime soon. Once is enough. Phew!

Edit. I Googled and found that if you stay stock it will just upgrade Android and optimize your current apps for ICS. Just Google and double check.

When I updated the software of my phone I did not loose any data used Odin as well and my phone is not rooted

Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

Hmm. I used these insructions to load vanilla ICS. Everything went okay. Odin says "PASS!"

but everything on my phones the same as it was. TouchWiz is still there...? What happened?

Maybe I need to go back to Gingerbread?

edit: I think I may have just flashed from SA ICS to UK ICS. Where can I get a plain ol' ICS ROM?! I'm looking on XDA but it's pretty confusing.
