Samsung Galaxy S2

If anything it looks worse. It's got all the old Samsung stuff with a few new ICS bits added into the mix. And the two don't work together, visually...

I also have mixed feelings about how it looks now.

For those that are confused about the way ICS looks and feels, look straight at and blame TouchWiz launcher....

Think of it like the government: It has to be there, but you don't want it there cause it spoils all the fun.....

See, I feel vindicated now. I upgraded to Samsung ICS, and then to a custom ICS ROM. Haven't looked back. The Samsung look and feel just doesn't cut it.

Yeah, I;m poking around to find a way to install vanilla ICS now.

I too was expecting the Vanilla feel to ICS when I first flashed it, and that's because we always saw and read up on the features or ICS, and they always gave us images on Vanilla ICS, so I was expecting it to look like the Nexus or the like.... It's a real shame Samsung couldn't have updated the launcher as well......

Why on earth would anyone use Kies? What utter garbage. Have been using Odin since day one. I rooted my phone and installed ICS the first day I had it :)

/ chuckles ...

Don't be nasty memphis, at least they got something ...

TBH, I had LP7 on for a short while, but went back to LPS because LPS' scrolling is so much smoother and responsive. I am contemplating to flash LP8 frankenstein to see if that is better (seeing it is a later version than LPS)

LP7 scrolling was smooth for me....

It felt like scrolling had brakes applied. When you flick your finger to scroll quickly throu a thread, it would stop too soon for me. It was smooth, but LPS was the closest to XWLA4 for me.

All good then.

Think I'll stick with my Gingerbread man, just love it too much. Battery life is exceptional. After 12 hours, I'm still on 82%. :)

I don't think ICS will compare with GB when it comes to battery life. I am on 33% after 21hrs with 2hrs screen on time and 1hr phone calls.

Am I retarded?

I have tried to follow instructions to get my S2 into "download" mode (from http://synapses.co.za/installing-ice-cream-sandwich-samsung-galaxy-s2/)

Put the disconnected phone into ‘Download’ mode, which you do by a) powering down, then restarting by b) holding both volume down and the main button on front of phone in when pressing power. Hold all 3 until you see the screen pictured above. You’ll be asked whether you’re sure you want to go to download mode. You are.

So I power off.

Then I hold the volume button and the main button. Holding both down, I then press & hold the power button.

The phone starts normally. I've tried this several times.

How do I get "download" mode?

It makes me think that if I cant get this basic step right I should not be trying to install anything...

EDIT - having actually read a few of the posts above, apparently Icecream is finally available.

Now, all I need is for that piece of **** software Keis to recognise my phone...

Yes, on ICS, my battery would last one day and be flat the next morning early. :(

And I thought Google said battery life would improve with ICS?

LOL...it is a bit tricky the first time. :)

You must hold volume down + home button in, then press power and hold all three in, until you get the ODIN download mode.

Then you can release the buttons.
