Samsung Galaxy S2

I did a clean install of 1.9, everything works fine I can install apps but as soon as I load the Tablet mod the phone just reboot every time I want to install something. Seems like some incompatibility in Tablet mode.

Anyways I'm still on 1.9 running in normal mode and everything is working as it should. Don't see a need to waste bandwidth to upgrade to 1.9.1, will wait until there is some big changes or maybe even a port of the S3 rom.

Now that sounds Healthy...I'll probably be doing the same :-)

My stock SGS2 just updated to 4.0.3 via Kies. Now it has “force close” problems with Widget Locker and Launcher Pro. What do I do???

For Gingerbread, change the user agent by browsing to: about:useragent from the built-in browser. That should allow you to change to the desktop site.

Is your GS2 on Android4.0? If so then in the web browser click the Menu button on the phone (on the left side of home key) in that menu scroll to the option 'Request Desktop site'.
If you're not on 4.0 then go to play store and download Dolphin HD web browser, it will allow changing its user agent to Desktop.

thanks... I'm on GB as my ICS update is still not available via MTN...

tried and it attempts to access full site but then says server not available, try again later...

Does anyone know how to change the default useragent for Chrome for Android? I hate having to manually select "Request desktop site"

Still have the same problem as per when I change useragent... "Server not responding, please try again later"

on a totally unrelated subject...

Anyone know how I can access the full supersport website on my s2 in order to stream live sport via the site (works fine with G10.1, but phone keeps going to mobile site which has no link to vid streaming!)

Thanks!

Try this:
Settings>More>Mobile Networks>Access Point names. (This is slightly different for GB, but the point is you must get to the APN's)
There should be at least 2 APNs. One for browsing and connection to the WWW, and the other for MMS.
Click on the one for browsing. You will see some entries which configures your phone to connect to the WWW.
IMPORTANT: Write down the proxy
Then click on Proxy and delete the entry
When done it should say Proxy:Not set
Exit to home screen and try Supersport again.

I don't know if the above will work, but it is worth a try

If you have problems connecting, just re-enter the proxy you wrote down earlier ... you did write it down didn't you???? ;)

Okay, next question. Now that I'm running CyanogenMod9, where is a good (read: trustworthy) place to get some nice themes?

Ok Ou Grote... That worked perfectly... BUT...

I'm a beginner with this stuff so bear with me, but will removing the MTN proxy not cause my data usage to be outside of the 2Gb bundle I purchased?

Might be a stupid question, but I'm gonna ask as the financial implications are HUGE.

I have no idea! Obviously streaming is heavy on bandwidth and I don't stream to my phone so I won't know exactly how much (say 2 hrs of rugby) streaming would consume. Some people use Onavo to monitor data usage, but I uninstalled it as it would not give me accurate figures. Also, I flash (way too) often, so it was never a help to me. ICS has a built in monitor which might help you, but again, I found it not to be too accurate (this is not available on GB).

The bottom line is - you can stream now, but you must find a way to monitor your data. There are apps on the market you can try, but I honestly do not know how good they are. Perhaps some the other more experienced guys on here can help out with an app. Also, take a look at this thread.

sorry, I worded that question badly...

What I meant was, if I dont use the proxy, won't I pay for data usage as if it is "out of bundle"... i.e. I have to use the proxy to use my 2Gb bundle purchased?

I stream a lot and a full game of rugby is about 200mb.

And thanks for the other suggestions above!

Awesome...I will wait to hear your opinion about it before I download it as i'm on pre paid data bundles :-( Pretty soon moving to where I will have ADSL :-)

LPD installed. It has a new LPW modem and I don't know how well that will perform. I will test it for a day or so and if it is problematic, I will flash LPS modem back.

First impressions of LPD is that it is very similar to LPS and LP8. I would go so far as to say that scrolling is ever so slightly less sensitive than LPS, but still sensitive enough for my liking. There is no reason for me currently to go back to LPS other than JKay releasing his mod for LPS first ... decisions ... decisions ... decisions ... But I currently use ICS Domination theme with a couple of mods and it supports LPS, LP8 and LPD (amongst others). It does what I wanted from JKay and gives a sleek look to the phone - so JKay might not even play a factor any more. Will see what his mod looks like when it is released ... oh .. .and JKay is going to charge for his mod now

I can not tell you which version you should use. It is very much based on personal taste and unfortunately a question of hit and miss. I loved LPS and if there is any hint of misbehavour from LPD, I will restore LPS.

I don't think you would pay out of bundle rates. Confirm with MTN. Look for an MTN rep on here also. I can not say for sure

I upgraded to Resurrection Remix 1.9 two days ago. Loving it.

Just had a glitch with the sms thing, but found a fix on another website (also mentioned earlier in this thread). I seemed to have issues with bluetooth, but haven't tried again and I never use it in any case.

No other glitches found yet. Everyting just seems to be running smoothly.

Running on ICS? Get Onavo Count for monitoring and firewalling, and Onavo Extend for a VPN that compresses the crap out of your data. Saves iOS users tons of moola - and now we can benefit too.
Seriously, it has reduced my usage by a good 25 - 30%, while being totally usable.
