I haven't used that kernel update function. In CWM, in the main menu, there's a Wipe Cache Partition option. Use that. Then go to Advanced and click Wipe Dalvik cache. Then go to Install zip from SD Card and select the new Siyah zip.

Occasionally I see there's a light red/pink/orange spot in the center of the camera preview and on photos, it's most noticeable with auto white balance on. It is/was a common problem with the SII's camera (and others, even SIII reportedly has it - https://www.google.co.za/search?q=pink+spot+camera+galaxy+s2&oq=pink+spot+camera). On Daylight WB it disappears but the picture can appear saturated with a too warm tint.

I have looked through many of the forums but I've yet to find if there's an actual solution, every ROM shows it and all the camera apps I've tried show it too. Some have tried replacing the phone only to have the new phone show the same problem, others never see the problem and say it's dirty screen/user error or whatever. I presume it's actually a hardware issue that's un-addressable but one that only shows up on certain phones & certain conditions?

I would say RR 2.6 but thats just my preference.You'll notice by the downloaded file size differences that CM9 is a light 134mb download whereas RR 2.6 is a monster 382mb's.

With installing RR though you can do a customized install and leave some things out if you wish.

So if you like light with just the basics to build on then go Cm9.

If you like customizations with lots of options ect ect go with Resurrection remix.

These roms have gotten to a point where performance/speed wise they are all on par with each other.

Its really hard to choose.Dual booting is one way to make it easier.But when you have three favourites,throwing MIUI in the mix you sometimes wish Siyah would release a triple boot option :D

Thanks I have rr but was not sure if I should try cm9. Don't think I will anytime soon love rr 2.6 only thing that gets to me is the smsc that goes weird at times other than that its amazing:)
 
Not ROM related.

Just got my S2, so far I am enjoying it but would like some input.
First the WiFi, where I get decent signal strength on my Desire and Tab 10.1 I cannot maintain a connection on the S2, is this normal or should I look at returning it?
Has anyone found an easy way to turn off the camera sound, I find it really annoying. The Desire had the option of turning it off.
Last, any suggestions on a replacement callender, this with this one I can it see my appointments for the week at a glace, just that they are there, not what they are...

I had to LOL. :)

Unfortunately we allowed the Samsung Galaxy S2 thread to turn into a custom mod ROM thread, which basically destroyed it.

There should have been a separate thread for custom ROMs on the SGS2.

must say, juice defender had a bigger effect on my battery life than the change to the 2000mAh

I shall have to look at JD again. I have it running on the wife's B5510. I trialled it on my SE Xperia Pro, but wasn't impressed at the time.
 
A new and "final" 2.6.1 release to Resurection Remix ROM is out, looks pretty sweet. I'll download it after 12 :P

One noob question, how important is it to clear the cache when flashing from 2.6 to 2.6.1? Especially if you dont neccecarily choose the same kernels? And also, how is it posible that the AROMA installer gives you the option to install more than one kernel? I dont understand, shouldn't you choose just one of the options (CM9 or Ciyah etc)?

Edit: I see you should only choose one. And if anyone is interested:
1- Install the Main ROM
2- In AROMA installer select "Custom Installation"
3- Choose depending of your taste
4- When AROMA installer finish untick the "Reboot Now" option
5- When you're back on recovery go to Advanced
6- Wipe Dalvik Cache
7- Fix Permissions
8- Wipe Cache Partition
9- Reboot

Ok, I'm using the stock South Africa 4.0.3 LP7 ROM, code XFA. Very stable and fast. I didn't take the Vodacom ROM (XFV), as I don't want to see a badly animated gif with a red tick in it. I prefer the sexy Samsung S2 logo.

You can get the ROM at www.samfirmware.com, but you will have to register to download the ROM. But registering takes 30 seconds, so it's not a biggie.
