Samsung Galaxy S3

Is it still within 7 days (might be more, think Samsung will give you a month, but not sure)? Then you can get it swopped for a brand new one.

If not, they'll send it in for repairs. Now here's the trick, you need to take pictures of the phone when you hand it in.

There are just too many stories of that lazy/incompetent? repair people at Vodacare who simply drop water inside the phone and then claim there's water damage and you must pay.

Safety first.

It's about 1.5 month's now. Pity.

How would pictures prove no water damage inside?
Do they really do ****e like that?

Yes, they do.

Inside every phone there's a 'button', which changes colour if there was water inside the phone.

Take a picture of that button, to prove that it hasn't changed colour when you handed it in.

Wow
Thanks for the heads up guys

I had been fiddling some more. I googled, tweaked and fiddled. I got my phone down to 12.3% PH drain with screen on 100% while browsing the net and reading forum threads on Tapatalk. This used to sit at around 20% PH!! Significant drop.

Going to sleep now and will charge back up again. Tomorrow I will do screen off drain tests while coding and try leave my phone alone for periods of time.

And I'm only learning this now?

I never knew about this colour changing button.

OMF. I am blown away with my screen off usage. I stopped touching my phone when I climbed in the shower and turned screen on when I got to the office (about 40 mins total). Lost 6%.

Seriously. My screen on and off times are pretty much matching each other now. WTF! Definately going to RMA this sucker today.

What a bonus...

Contacted Autopage Bedfordview this AM and told them about my problem.

Within one hour they had swapped out my phone. And the bonus is they let me choose the colour so I took a Pebble Blue one.
Now to cycle the battery a few times and test again.

Great service from these guys!

Did you triangle away, revert to stock?

Great news :)

Damn... One extreme to the other.

I charged up to 100% on my new swap out S3, then took off charge 43 minutes ago.
The screen has been off except for installing and configuring Whatsapp.
Battery still at 100%.

Then I received a call. About 10 minutes long. Finish call and check battery. 100%. WTF!!!

Now I think there is something else wrong. Got another dud phone. Just as I am about to hit another panic it drops to 99%.

Seriously? 43 minutes since charge and 1 call, and I use 1% of battery?

Will give it a few cycles before I start judging this bad boy. But damn, if this is what I can expect from this phone then I am seriously impressed.

Glad you coming right!
Did you get your order from Kalahari already?

Nah. Heard nothing from them dude. I was so desperate for a battery I ended up buying one (or my wife did rather) on Sat AM at Greenstone. So now will have two spares. lol.

When I told wifey I got the Pepple Blue one she told me to put it back in the box and go get myself the Note 2. She wants my phone now. At least I got authorisation from the Minister of Finance - in a round about way.
