Samsung Galaxy S3

Reporting back after a few days on Polish JellyBean.

I find the phone a lot more responsive and apps load content so much faster. Sometimes it is so quick it comes across as not being smooth at all.
Wi-Fi is much much better. Used to only get 1 bar while in my bedroom. Now a constant 3 bars.
GPS locks on a lot quicker than stock ICS.

Can't say I have been lucky enough to experience better battery life like other users.

I'm impressed.

I read through these threads and still don't think I understand these often used terms "lag" and "smoothness". Some complain of the SGS3 having some lag prior to the JB update yet I can not claim to have experienced it. Or perhaps I just don't know what I am looking for... and maybe I don't want to. Maybe it's one of those things that don't bother you but as soon as you see it you cannot unsee it.

Project Butter! Google Videos on it and you'll see the difference, if you've used iOS it's not really thaaat impressive.

Yeah, I'm aware of project butter but, seriously, are some people able to detect this in "real life". I have loaded Polish JB now and cannot say I am immediately blown away by teh difference yet it is often quoted as a major "selling point" of an OS. Am I just too easily pleased?

And yeah, I just watched a video (below) and the difference is "obvious" when side by side like that but are you sure someone would actually perceive that if they were not aware of it, or experienced the "placebo" effect of knowing it is meant to be faster?

You prefer a bunch of icons in a grid format screen after screen after screen after screen aft....

Got an iPad3 running iOS6. Most boring OS on the market IMO.

No I prefer white, like the gmail app is awesome, but the mail client is crap. Dislike black menus

Virtually every app has it's own colour theme to choose from. Then just theme the OS to something that suits you. Simple.

Sorry coming from iOS not used to so much control, how do I go about it?

Yes, you're definitely in the driving seat with android.
Tough to know where to start. Help me out here guys.
Themes can be downloaded from the Play store (I think?!) as well as XDA forums:

You want to keep it simple to start off with. Choosing a 3rd party launcher is the best way to start themeing your device. Look at Apex or Go launcher to going.

Turn on power saving mode and you will see the lag with all its might.

Again, I cannot see it with power saving but I can get a sense of it when adjusting animation, window and transition scales... but then that is obviously going to be noticeable. What I am saying, and was just confirmed in another video comparison I just watched (http://youtu.be/YAKk_ffjwC8), is that the changes are barely noticeable to the human eye unless doing a side by side comparison. That was the point. Faster is always great but is it as noticeable as some claim or just the placebo effect? I am claiming to not notice a huge change myself.

yeah, I've played with saving mode on and off, no difference to me on my phone. Always lightning (Nova launcher).

That's weird hey, if I put power saving mode on there is a very noticeable difference in performance. Switching between home screens is choppy as well as scrolling through apps etc.

Yeah Power Saving mode is like the oppisite of the Turbo button on an old XT system.

Will give it a few cycles before I start judging this bad boy. But damn, if this is what I can expect from this phone then I am seriously impressed.
C'mon Mike, you can't be impressed - you want that Note 2. Don't let me down, I want to buy it next year when you get the S4!
:p

1.3% PH drain with screen off on stock JB.
No tweaking yet. Going to try get it lower.

Damn I'm chuffed :D

Haha, it should be lower than that. I get 1% over 7 hours with Wifi + GPS + Mobile data off. :D (obviously I don't use the phone at all but it's not in flight mode) :D
