My wife is having an issue with emails coming through on her exchange account using ActiveSync via 3G on Vodacom:
I've checked her apn settings ( named it Internet and leave rest blank correct?), checked with her work IT admin and removed her account and setup fresh again and all went well with that. Work is using Exchange 2010, with SSl authentication and a web mail server (owa).
Funny thing is, when she is on wifi at home her exchange emails come through and everything syncs as expected, but as soon as wifi is off , no syncing and no emails pushed.The sync/refresh icon just spins around and around perpetually
Checked that the sync icon in the pull down menu is on and also that background process is not blocking emails.
She is on 4.1.1.
Anyone care to offer an explanation?
I've also tried to power down her phone numerous times etc.
Her gmail syncs just fine as well as Internet browsing works just fine on 3G/HSDPA/EDGE.
I'm pretty baffled...
She really needs her work email as she is mobile...

Edit:Vodacom signal is good at home, and we have tried at numerous other locations where signal is excellent to eliminate a signal issue.
She is using the standard email client from Samsung.
So in summary exchange mail only syncs on wifi not mobile.
1. Do you have any firewall, mobile security, data management apps installed. I assume not.
Did you check that its not being blocked by android>data usage (internal firewall). Power saving mode off.
2. Have you checked sync settings in Settings>Accounts>Microsoft Exchange
3. If by sync you mean automatically/push, then check the sync schedule in the app settings, it maybe that during peak hours (not at home) the setting is manual.
4. Try clearing all data for the exchange app (android settings>applications>find anything related to exchange and the email app itself). Reboot. Re-enter account details.
5. Install a 3rd party app and see if that works.
6. Lastly factory reset.
I am not all that clued up on exchange, all I can tell you is that on the server the following is enabled:
Outlook Web App.
Exchange ActiveSync
MAPI
POP3
IMAP4
The client is setup with:
DomainName\username
Password
exchange server address (mail.domain.co.za)
Use secure connection (SSL) ticked.

If you're rooted, yes - full wipe. If not, I don't know if Kies will let you, although i'm sure you could do it (without root) using Odin (instead of Kies).

I noticed with 4,1,2 that when you charge with a wall plug it switches the WiFi and Mobile Data on automatically.

Don't notice anything out the ordinary.. I might be blind, but i dont see where I turn on / off synching for accounts as a whole.. vs one by one -(my memory might just be failing)

Pull down taskbar or whatever it's called- the controls/switches are there- WiFi, MobileData, Screen Rotation and Sync. Can enable/disable from here.

Just Google it. It's been around for quite a while.
Not much if you don't like tinkering with your phone. Rooted stock is very similar to Omega, almost identical in fact. Omega is always up to date and has certain popular rooted things built in.

Can't replicate. Do you have power management apps that would maybe be causing this?
You could have loaded the official 4.1.2 XFE from Sammobile for some time now as well.
Yeah sounds like something Tasker and Llama could do.
