Yes you need to go through the whole process. I've paid for Titanium which makes the process a whole lot simpler because it will install everything without you needing to confirm each app. Get a good upgrade routine going and it's not such a schlep. It is once off per Android version.

Once you do that you can update to each nightly for that release without having to wipe anything. Just install via recovery.

Thanks for confirming. $7 for Pro- the only app I've ever bought was Swiftkey, and that was while it was on sale! I'll have to consider the whole schelp of updating + bandwidth costs of downloading all this stuff.

Titanium Backup isn't the only option. I use MyBackup Pro and it's just as capable at the basic task of backing up every conceivable bit of data, including app data for rooted devices. The interface is much more user friendly. There's a free version but I don't how limited it is.

Your bandwidth costs are negligible. CM isn't much more than 100MB, there's no need to upload your backups anywhere and the backup apps and Gapps are tiny in size.

There are so many brilliant paid apps that you really should consider not being resistant to supporting quality development.

Just unrooted phone and loaded the original firmware on. Updated to 4.3 from france. My word it is different from having a rooted phone. The font size is incredibly large, having been used to small font for some time. I literally just loaded it, updated and installing all my apps again. Will provide feedback once i see how the improved GPU handles and battery life :).

Mine completely refused to boot up. Got a boot loader issue, had to format everything. Couldnt care less about what was on my phone tbh. Some 9gag pics.

Maybe something you done wrong?

But anyways, Im going to revert back to 4.1.2, there is a huge lag delay when pressing the home button to minimize apps.

The phone is now extremely battery hungry as well.

I've been on 4.3 for ages and it's been great. Are you running a stock ROM?

There's a setting for that- does the stock version still have big font even while set to the smallest setting?

I've just rooted after about a year on stock- CM10.1.3 is not as flashy but it's faster and chows less battery :)
 
Sorry, i meant to say that after the format the phone worked 100%. The only lag i got, is when its locked and i try turn it on. The menu button doesnt seem to wake the phone for some reason. I have to physically use the unlock button. Battery life, i get 9.5hours maybe 10hours max. More or less what im used to on the s3. Gaming, it seems somewhat improved when playing games like NFSMW and some of the shooting games.

Basically, i just unrooted in order to sell the phone again. Getting Nexus 5 :D
 
The Android 4.3 update is killing my battery. Was fully charged at 06h00 this morning and my charge is now 45%.
