Samsung Galaxy S3

It seems I cannot swipe from the edge of the screen to another tab in Chrome any more. Anyone else?

I can't do it either. Seems the last update removed that feature. Can't understand why, because it was quite useful.

Hope it's an oversight, that exact feature is what makes Chrome such a great browser for me. Think I should hunt down the previous version...

Edit: Function still works in Gmail

I have a question to you fellow S3 users from S.A. My S3 heats up alot near the bottom of the phone, even when performing mundane tasks such as juggling whatsapp and chrome.
Do you guys also experience the same issue, or do I maybe have an app thats causing my media scanner to go crazy and heat up my processor? Im 100% sure it's my processor thats causing the heat, not the battery.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(Running CM 10.1.3 RC2)

I'm not experiencing any heat issues bar the times I'm pushing the processor with gaming or similar. Perhaps a software issue?

Sorry for the slight thread hijack: best ROM for Samsung Galaxy Ace (not Ace Plus or Ace 2 or whatever)?

I've rooted my old S2 using Odin and CWM to CM 10.1.3 Stable. Was pretty straightforward.

I'm looking to get the S3 to 10.2 xyz nightly, but the most stable of those to date. Any recommendations? How often are Stable versions released- should I wait for one of those?

Also, for my S2, Odin showed com as Green, but with my S3, it shows up as BLUE, and rooting doesn't seem to work... When I tried to start with the CF-something-or-other, it ends up restarting.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Any one bought a wireless charging pad and receiver tag? Assuming it charges slower then the standard cable.

Should be fine. The 10.2 nightlies are also pretty stable, been on them for two weeks now and I'm happy.

I'll get there- this is my first proper rooting :)

Stable is best for now- I don't have time atm for fiddly nightlies....

So far so good, though I wish I'd take more time to back everything up properly with TiBackup. I did the bare minimum and am now having to manually reconfigure some apps :(

Which guide did you use, I want to use it as well, that way i know it works

Not this exact one (I used laptop at home, so history isn't on this work PC), but something similar: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1911726

That's the ultimate n00b guide- it's actually simpler and clearer than what I used.

In short:
Root with Odin, with CF Auto Root
Install Titanium Backup, backup all your ****
Copy Backup files to PC
Boot into Recovery, backup to SD
Copy Backup files to PC [I forgot to do this :(]
Copy CM 10.1.3 / ROM of your choice to SD
Copy applicable Gapps to SD
Boot into Recovery, factory reset and wipe cache before installing:
Boot into Recovery, install ROM then Gapps
Reboot

From here, I'm not sure if was supposed to let the phone auto install all my apps or if I was supposed to install them+data from TiBackup. I opted for the latter, which is turning out to be a lus... :o

I'm a n00b too, so if I've missed something, please point it out or suggest how things could have been done better.

:)

^ you forgot a crucial step before "install ROM then Gapps"

You must include: do factory reset and wipe cache before installing

Yeah. Install something like BetterBatteryStats and report back after a few days.

I've installed something similiar to this, and all it did what tell me which programs are battery hogs. Turns out it was SwiftKey and WhatsApp and Beautiful Widgets. All three of which I am not uninstalling.

guys,

i know 4.3 is being released sometime in the near future for the S3, S4 and the Note, but, does that mean samsung will include its newer features(smart scroll, blah blah blah) for the S3 as well?

Just curious:o
