People will always complain when things are new and unknown... "oh, but my last phone's sensor was so perfectly placed!!! this is so stupid"

my opinion: if you cannot change your habits as technology changes, you will not be able to benefit from it and be stuck in the past
As much as I agree with this, the placement of the FPS in the S8 is strange but is merely a stop gap to the point where Samsung can figure out how to place the FPS in the display without a ghosting effect.

With that said, the FPS placement shouldn't be a deal breaker. Every company has some quirk in their products, this tends to be very true with tech and cars, and people tend to get over those quirks after using it for a while.

I just got my S8+ Dream Kit delivered.
I kind of like the Back Cover. Definitely not the same kind of protection as my UAG, but it looks much nicer.

The Powerbank is also very nice.

Charges really fast. From 5% to 60% in 10-15 minutes.

samsung s8 - 3 weeks old, watching youtube and all of sudden got the red tint over the entire screen, I remember reading abot this issue so was about to click on chrome and search what to do but before i could even click the icon the entire screen went monochrome green, couldnt find anything on the internet about this issue, only the red tint issue that was supposedly a software problem, i am officially proof that it is the start of a hardware problem, i decided to do a factory reset, started phone up again and only the left half of the screen turned on and the right side was just a bunch of lines changing colours all over. I have taken the phone to samsung hoping i get a replacement as it is not even a month old, i will be extremely pissed if they only repair it, which it sounds is the likely outcome...........

Must the phone be switched off?

Mine has been on charge for just over 30 minutes and is on 55% now. (charged from 5%)

maybe it was an over exaggeration... you know, like men normally do with the fuel consumption of their car... or the size of their.... bank balance

seems you are outta luck for the in-screen FPS to be in the Note 8

ah, you a one contract peasant... for shame

:D :D
I've got 2

One for tablet ( iPad Air 2) and one for phone (S7 Edge).

If I really had to upgrade this year I'd use the contract for tablet, but that is not necessary, may just cancel that one and do Prepaid actually and become a one contract peasant

I'm looking at purchasing an S8 or S8+. What is the current cheapest way to get hold of one? I will just use an existing prepaid sim in it so I don't need any data or airtime.

Upgrading from a Galaxy S1. There's some apps I need to run which do not work on the S1 because the version of Android is too old and I can't upgrade the software further.

This would not be advisable. The shock to your system would be too great. I suggest get a S3 to use for a few months. Then an S6 for a few months there after - and finally an S8 once you have acclimatized.

Telkom Freeme looks a lot better.

https://secure.telkom.co.za/today/s...lus-64gb-freeme-1gb/?#!k=product-detail-27823

Only a 24 month contract so R699x24 = R16776. This is not too much off from the brand new price for just the phone.

Think will go for this unless there's some better deal out there.

The s8 is R629x24. Not sure what to get. Only difference is the screen size and battery. Also the cpu in the Plus is clocked 100MHz higher.

I've got the S8+ on Telkoms FreeME and I'm very happy with what I have.

I can't find reference to the S8+ being 100MHz faster on the web, are you sure that's right?
