Samsung Galaxy S8

Is it really? I've got an S6 that I got on launch, so it's coming out of its contract next month. I'm not convinced though, there's nothing in the S8 that makes me think "Oh yes, I want to spend R600/month for the next two years all over again." Heck, I've got better things I can do with that money.
Watch. It will be R800+ per month on contract

I thinks it's pretty sad what's happened with the S series. The S2 was a beast. Since then it's just evolved into an iCompetitor. The Note line is still the King. Ok the 7 was a flop. Gloss over that.

I've never owned a note, but what besides the pen makes it better?
The pen is a primary factor for me. I used it immensely for mark up on my Note 3 back in the day. Also traditionally it's the Note that breaks the mould with new, previously unseen features.

I don't care about the S8's iris scanner (my S6's fingerprint scanner works just fine ta), I don't need my phone to be a desktop replacement, I don't use Samsung Pay (although I can already use FNB's tap-and-go NFC payments on my S6), and I don't have a Samsung Gear VR (or remote). What else is left? Bixby? ROFL, I think not.

Sure the S8 is a great phone but R600+/month*24 is even better to have :P
Im happy with my Note 4 for another year.

I would buy the 8 plus if it wasn't for the price. I won't pay R18K for a phone

For R17.5k or the more expensive phone.

Im really done with cellphones, or at least having to have the latest and greatest.

Tomorrow, they release a phone with a see through back, zero bezels, and people will be all over it. The bad part about all of this, is that most people only use it for whatsapp and facebook, but still want to know why it doesnt have 6GB's of ram.

This, my contract ends next month for my S6 I'm moving to telkom freeme aim only and continue with this phone will check what the iPhone 8 costs maybe keep the contract and upgrade to that.

But certainly no reason to upgrade to the S8 and that fingerprint scanner I can just imagine the frustration it will cause.

It's an amazing looking phone. But, touch wood, I've been one of the lucky ones who got a non-dud S6, and as long as it keeps doing what it's doing, I don't really see the need to change just yet.

why do you say that?

so between this and the G6 the deciding factor for me will be what is offered on launch.

if you get the dex on launch I will get the S8.

if the dex works whit other devices, I will get the G6 and buy a dex.

I have to say the edgeless display is pretty, and I am lookign forward to Jeryrig everything tearing this appart (litrally)

I am also looking forward to Faanie's review, and possibly comparison...
