Samsung Galaxy S8

Yep, I want to know about rooting the phone thereafter. So flash official Oreo then root. Possible? Anyone done it?
It's possible.

Samsung Health won't function anymore.
The FNB banking app won't let you login with Fingerprints anymore etc etc

I tried a UK based one on Friday, but the ODIN download to the phone just won't start.
Have you got the right Odin version.?
If it's not correct version, you'll have issues.
Best to quickly check on SamMobile./ or XDA
Go to that Uk Firmware, you are trying to install and( just before a download) you'll see correct Odin version to use.
I think it should be Odin 3 v 3.13.1
(I used it on my Note 8 to flash Oreo.)
Good luck

Correct Odin 3 v 3.13.1
All my apps are working including Vodacom VolTE, I did not root at all just flashed AP BL CP & HOME_CSC_OVF.
No need to reset cache or data in place upgrade.

I see there is a XFE Odin version available for the S8+.
Could that safely be used in a CellC (XFA) phone?

There are also a number of Firmware versions available.
Which is the correct one to use?

Just took a chance and looked under sw updates on the phone and saw a 1.4gb download. Hitting it now...
Edit: Done

But it is the CRAP version. I thought that specific version was recalled worldwide? Something to do with peoples phones restarting randomly etc. Then they brought out a new version which I think is CRB7. Or do I have this wrong now?

If the Huawei P10 on Vodacom started to get the Oreo update yesterday I can only assume the S8 update can't be too far off.
