SAOL cancel uncapped packages

So I'm going to have to change my sig :( But seriously, this is one of the better uncapped offers at 384k, dont want to go through the hassle of switching

I did about 60GB this month - also got the letter.

Stuff them - whats so "uncapped" about this account?

My take is that want to rid themselves of all the "R499 power users"..........

I DOUBT any of the R699 and R799 users received this email......

I am so p!ssed off by this email - its not even funny.

Hmmm, seems its only a matter of time then :(

There could be another reason. Maybe their current contract with Cybersmart has come to an end, I'm guessing here, no facts. Cybersmart did state these offerings are not financially viable to them and could have increased the price they sell bandwidth at to SAOL hence the current reaction.

Just a though.

Or maybe SAOL is just removing those clients they are losing money on. I don't think it's a viable solution offering uncapped on an unshaped unthrottled uncached network. Every gig used comes off your bottom line.

MWeb have built a sustainable model IMHO. Make sure they majority of users are getting a reasonable experience and let the downloaders get what is left over. Ensure that you have caching in place as most large files downloaded are not unique, eg. House S5E1 , and it only costs you IPC to deliver this file second time around.

Waiting for my letter then. Suppose when things look too good to be true about uncapped in this country it usually is.

Wonder how many are getting cancelled???

select count(*) from uncapped_users
where speed = '384K'
and payment = 'R499'
and downloaded > '30GB';

I'm convinced that will give you the answer you looking for.....

I don't know actually. Tell you one thing for sure, SAOL will not keep my line or see any business in future...even if they offer it for free...

Hmmm... I'm wondering, if/when I get the email, I'll move over to Mweb and up my speed to 4mb. But, should I let SAOL keep my line? Would probably make the transition easier, and they are selling a 4mb package for R399 with 1gb line incl.

Edit: ninja answer from straatket already, haha :D

This is a really dark day for all SAOL simply uncapped users.
Being loyal counts for nothing?
People jump ship to MWEB, and here are your loyal subscribers being taken to task for using what they paid for.
Straatkat was one of the most loyal subscribers, and has now done a complete 180 on SAOL.

Why should anyone accept this?
And here i was expecting a wonderful surprise from SAOL with a 4mb package with 30gb and line rental or something better.....
What happens in June when Telkom dishes out a better offer.

My universe has been totally rocked by this news....

Can you keep your line with SAOL?
I really don't wanna cancel and re-apply for ASDL again.

It looks like it, its the announcement on their home page. But I'm also thinking, why not move back to Telkom (shudder) for the line only. Any upgrades to the line you'd immediately have. But just too lazy to go through the hassle of switching it now for an unconfirmed upgrade in the future

Sorry Archer i edited my post due to getting very angry all of a sudden out of nowhere.
But i do wanna know too.

Well, I have instructed them to please move my line back to Telkom ASAP.

I will review my options tonight and see where I am going. What pisses me off is the emails full of insurances from Neethi that they are not even thinking of increasing the price or cancelling them... Thanks for nothing. The timing is also perfect, 22 April 2010, 2 days prior to the new consumers protection act...

Yeah it really is wonderful, thanks for sticking it to your loyal users. I always stood by them, but ag never mind...
