SARS E-Filing 2019/20

Anyone know what happens if you have two vehicles, one is only used for private travel and the other is only used for business travel. Will SARS require the details of both vehicles?

I was only keeping a logbook for the vehicle with the business travel.

SARS agent / auditor said its impossible to have no private travel.
What about travel between your home and office, that should be private, or do you work from home

Newbie question to e filling

So I did my first e filling for tax year ending feb 2020. I'm a provisional tax payer and paid and my one amount in feb 2019 and August 2019 ,it was also my first year paying provisional tax.

Anyways so today when I did my return, I clicked on calculate and gave me an amount to pay but the two provisional payments I made was bit deducted . Would this only be done when I click on submit , would they not show me when I clicked in calculate? Or is there an error that the 2 provisional amounts did not get factored in?

Log into efiling and get the “statement of account”. You will see exactly what Sars took into consideration etc

Thanks .I just did that but everything shows R0 amount. When I go to calculated amount it still shows the amount calculated excluding the provisional I paid in?

Ok, then plan B (if it was me), go online, make an sars appointment and go see them. I had to do that now with my TFSA accounts.

I had to load my psg also (as they didnt load mine). The bigger issue, another service provider uploaded a R0 contribution!

The "calculate" function is just a guide and does not take into account provisional tax payments. It is simply looking at the information in your ITR12 and doing a calculation. It will also ignore other "complexities" like lumpsums, RE carried forward. etc. You must submit to see the actual result.

Thanks for the reply, I'm just worried if I click submit it wone deduct my provisional payments and then it will cause more problems.

I changed my banking details when submitting my return end of Aug. I received correspondence from SARS that they need supporting documents for the new banking details. I submitted this almost a month ago. I've been trying to call them this week but there are either 900+ people on the line, or I'll be helped in 15 minutes neither of which I have time for. I requested a callback but they not calling me. So how long does SARS normally take to approve or do whatever they need to do with supporting documents for a change in banking details?

I asked for two call backs yesterday, waited for 15 mins then they called me after about and two minutes wait (when the estimated time to call back ended)

Thanks guess I'll just keep on trying.

Was hoping this would be as seamless and automated as submitting a return but guess they have some manual intervention that is required and someone has been sleeping on it.

Change in bank details usually has 2 steps, submit supporting documents and verification, which must usually be done in person via appointment (fraud prevention). They have created an alternative method.1601367742820.png

anyone know how long turnaround time on the refund is?
If there are no issues (audit, outstanding returns, bank verification) then usually 2 - 7 days after submission. If you had an audit, it is usually 2 - 7 days after the Completion Letter is issued (provided your bank details don't need verification).

Your provisional payments will be transferred to your statement on assessment. I have never come accross an example where that did not happen, except once, but that was because the taxpayer made the payments with an incorrect ref and it was allocated to a different tax period.
