SARS E-Filing 2019 OPEN!

We must be doing something wrong then.
Or right, I guess. If they owe you you gave the government an interest free loan. Nevermind devaluation of the money due to inflation.
But I have to drop a good chunk of cash on study fees and am also looking at buying a house, so it adds up.

I just find it interesting that people always get something back.

If you don't have medical expenses and don’t want to load an RA, it’s normal to only break even. I usually owe a few thousand rand so I don’t file until December.

If you don't have multiple incomes then you should never have to pay in. If you have pension and medical then you should always get something back.

If not then your employer is not calculating your tax correctly on a monthly basis.

Mine was stuffing it up for quite a while and ended up having to pay in a few times - dumbass Financial manager.

Dumb question but if the medical aid covers all the expenses, can one still claim?
Most of the specialists are out of medical aid tarrif, so my 'claims not covered' amount is quite high. I only submitted the medical aid tax certificate.

Will SARS send me a notification if I need to verify my banking details at a branch.

I changed my banking details.

SARS will not send you a notification (only sometimes), but SARS will require you to visit a branch for a bank details verification. Unfortunately as soon as you change any bank details it is regarded by SARS as high risk and will need to be verified at a branch by either yourself or a tax practitioner.

Late to the early party. Should I give it a go and submit or wait until 1/07?

So can someone pls give me the step by step process to do it myself.. I phoned Sars but they said they can only help me on 01/07/2019

A lot of people are getting paid out pretty quickly, I hope there isn't a delay with my return ( I'm usually selected for audit or verification). How long does it take for a Notice of Assessment take to generated?

mine was like 10-15 minutes

My electronic refund date is 27/06 on my SOA. I submitted my return yesterday with a change of banking details and was never requested to go in at a branch with confirmation documents. I’m impressed SARS!

They really seem to have gotten their act together after the head of IT has been on leave from herself..

OK, I just submitted. Selected for verification again, same as every year before.

How long does it take their system to give me the letter to submit my supporting documents?

EDIT: Was able to submit my documents 10min after I received my Assessment

Did your letter say no changes were made to your return?
