There must be issues at SARS relating to verifications and audits. I bet on my breath
Why ?
They have 21 working days to complete verifications, the debt and rigor of the verification process for each taxpayer is different, which is why someone with a complex tax calculation might be "verified" in less time that someone with a straight forward tax calculation. There are different audit teams at SARS, each working at their own pace. Once the auditor is done with the verification is goes to a senior for review and signoff, he/she might send it back, all leading to more time.
You cannot compare the timelines between different taxpayers, there are too many variables
