SARS E-Filing 2020/21

Do you claim for all electricity billed or do you need to multiply by the percent of floor space your home office uses?
Rent + Water & Elec + Security + Insurance, I apportioned by the size of the office space.

I did similar for the internet at 80% and listed telephony cost + low-value equipment.

When clicking the "REFUND STATUS" button is says "No Refund Due"
IT34 shows a refund amount.

I received a letter on the 30th to say that the verification was completed with no adjustments.

I guess I need to wait for the refund then.
Having the same issue, Refund Status also reflecting "No Refund Due" but refund balance reflects on IT34, and SOA.... Guess the best would be to give their call center a call to find out why the refund is not being paid...

Double checked and banking details are "VALID" so there really can't be any other reason(s)!

Just wait and check you SoA every morning.

You just need to wait. Mine showed the same "no refund due" last week, while SOA showed my refund amount.

Woke up on Saturday morning to find the money in my bank

Is my home fibre a wfh deduction?
I'm a Cloud Engineer - I can't exactly take a bus there but if the auditor wants to fight, they better bring their A-game.

Thanks, will do that then. Is there an acceptable timeframe that the refund can take to be paid after receiving the IT34 and "FINALIZED WITHOUT CHANGES"-audit/verification letter?
Yes, strictly speaking, it's the date reflected on your Statement of Account. Same with the audit, they have 21 days to do it. They are doing things quicker than their actual timeframes (okes wanting to call them etc are being hasty)

Just wait, high probability you will be posting an update here on Wednesday saying money in the bank

Mine paid out on Saturday morning. Thankfully no drama.

Mine took 3 days after verification. That's why I'm saying just be patient :)
Thank you, I'll try my best!

Also, thanks for your input, seems that there is hope!

Noted! I will surely update the thread once the money is in the bank.

Ah, lucky!!

Thanks, everyone for the input, I appreciate it a lot and will just try my best to wait it out... :)

Did you request it? The first page you get to shows historical returns so will show up till 2020, you go to the left menu, can't remember exactly where, but somewhere you request 2021 and then it gets added to that front page.

This is never auto populated for me - in the wizard I state I need to add capital gains (disposed of assets or something like that) and then the fields are available to populate.
Small side note: the last question on the right, 'income not covered by the above' generates another set of questions and then finally you can select capital gains local/int which generates 4250.

In theory, the gap payments should already be listed as unclaimed on your medical, as gap only pays differance between medical aid and actual but check.

Can confirm they are unclaimed.

I only ever bothered about valid claims the GAP cover would payback, but I now see the value of pushing through all the claims. We had a lot of out of hospital claims when my wife had a meltdown but the wellness clinic still put even the smallest claim through the hospital plan which I'm now grateful for.

Yep, lot less hassle if the additional expense appears as unpaid by your medical aid as they have to keep records as well. Whenever audited they only ever asked for what items not appearing

Does anyone know what supporting docs I could use for prepaid electricity purchases for WFH claim?
I'm a renter. Usually purchase prepaid through the fnb app.
Under prepaid purchase history. You can usually download proof of all purchases.

I want to mentioned something observed now with this thread, how everyone is jumping to get the "working from home" expenses deducted.

Saying that, that is exactly who being a landlord operates. Its not alot of work, BUT very much rewarding !

You can claim alot of things, and SARS will see it as deductions (and the result : a refund).

Just something to think about

I tried this but it only pulled up 3 months purchases. FNB online doesn't go further. I've been on the secure chat for awhile trying to find out if they can give me the purchase history for prior months but apparently I can only get that on the full bank statement.
If you've found a way to get the previous months please let me know.
I think I may just use the info from the confirmation sms's received to make my own spreadsheet.

Is there a way to view the status of verification, or if there is a problem with the document?

Was audited due to medical scheme, uploaded tax certificate on Wednesday. Havent received any updates since.
