SARS E-Filing 2020/21

I just received my IT34A with a refund amount, both that and the SOA dont show a payment date. Guess I just have to wait.

Is there a way to view the status of verification, or if there is a problem with the document?

Was audited due to medical scheme, uploaded tax certificate on Wednesday. Havent received any updates since.
Audit can take up to 90 days.

Any deductions , you go into audit. I have been audit every year for the last 20. Claimed nothing this year, no audit. They auto assessed me.

Wrong.
I have deductions. Wasn't audited last year or the year before - was audited before that and now audited this year.

Guess it depends on your deductions. I usually claim travel, office space (WFH) and other office expenses.

Oh BTW __ I got the verified and completion letter today -- no changes done
I submitted supporting docs on the 30th June -- ( last week Wed )
So thing verification doesnt really take 21 days as they claimed --- it's just a standard safe/waiting period

Now It's just a matter of waiting for the money/refund to come through i guess ..

I think a lot of you are confusing verification and audit.

Verification is what most people get, upload of supporting documents.

Audit way more in depth, that's when you're probably in some trouble.

Not really trouble ! Lets take myself as an example, getting alot of rental income, just need to proof whats my expenses and income.

I have been audited every year since 2010 :) ...

Fair point. Will do that next year for sure - this year was a scramble to get everything for them...

I see this as being a landlord. If you wait for the last week of the year, not doing your 5 min admin per month, you will CRY for sure !

:) I can see why everyone is scrambling for info and data. Be prepared for the worst (as in audited) and if you get audited, its 5 min to upload, and wait

Not at all, just that you have to wait till Sept/Oct or even November for a refund.

Not sure if it's been asked before. What's the chance of being audited/request for verification on an auto-assessment?

My auto-assessment is pretty decent, but if you can be audited anyway then I may as well put a bit more effort into it...

Lol, I watched The Accountant this morning, highly recommended (I don't particularly enjoy fiction movies but this was good). Anyway, there is a scene in there that reminds one, how you phrase things is important: what I suspect you mean here is if they decide to do a field inspection, you might need to take a day to prepare your stuff for verification.

(Not like you have a printer to keep physical copies. So you'd need to prepare that for example). I do not suggest you misrepresent the size of your office, more so if you don't have the remote office space. Remember they can check Deeds records to confirm the size of the house. In my case, for example, they'd see 69sqm - I do have a wooden outbuilding (7m x 1.5m) which serves as my office. Knaaa'mean? 10.5sqm/79.5sqm = 13.21%

I'll do so - I expect the outcome in my verification/audit then. I used the following documents (for now):

Docs:
1 - Employer IRP5 - Feb 2021.pdf
2 - Allan Gray IT3(s).pdf
2 - TymeBank.pdf
2 - IT3B OM.pdf
3 - Discovery Medical Certificate(s).pdf
4 - Employer - Office Closure Letter.pdf
4 - Employer of Home Office - 30_06_2021.pdf
5 - Home Office Expenses.pdf
6 - August Rental.pdf
6 - Telkom - Dec 2020 Invoice.pdf
6 - Alarm - ADT Failure Rework.pdf
6 - ADT -Installation Invoice-CT.pdf
6 - TAKEALOT - Invoice.pdf
6 - Electrical Work.pdf
6 - Water and Elec.pdf

I couldn't give them x12 on invoices hence I gave them a sample of each. I was bored yesterday, looked at SARS recently awarded tenders - they have industry backup to verify claims and perform forensic audits, whatever you do, don't lie lol (See RFP 52/2018 in 2018 – 2020 Awarded Tenders to be precise).
Also, people are getting paid megatons to perform basic stuff!!!

EDIT: Everything I say is a pile of twak; I'm not a tax pro. Just a dude with a cheque I'm hellbent on collecting lol
If I may ask, what did you purchase from Takealot that would be tax deductible?

Normally (but not always) products purchased would be capital expenses and not tax deductible while services would be the opposite. There uses to be a R threshold under which SARS would allow Capital expenses to be deducted in full at the time of purchase, cannot recall now what this is

It's R7,000 and below for WFH purchases
