SARS eFiling 2022/2023

In your case, what was the average turn around time ?

Maybe 1-2 weeks? Some times it was quicker and other times it took a bit more time. It probably depends on how busy they are and how much supporting documentation they need to verify. My philosophy now is just to be patient and it gets paid when it gets paid.

So statement of account says payment date is 1 of August, Was this the same for the people that got auto-assessed?
Give it a day or to and request a new SOA then see if they added a payment date. They usually do it that way

Is this how many times one disposed of shares ? For example, if I sold 20 shares, then 30, does it count as 2 ?

How many disposals (shares to be combined as one disposal) took place?

Can’t believe it. Calculator says they owe me R340.
I’ve paid R125k in medical aid. Tax @ over half a mil.. and I get back R300? I’m really annoyed. I’m missing something. F*** I’m annoyed.

125k in medical aid contributions…or costs outside of medical aid because those are very different.

Everyone gets the same rebate for medical aid contributions which is a couple of hundred bucks and if you are salaried your company would have rebated that every month already so you already got it back, so R300 makes perfect sense.

Only other way as a salaried individual you should expect anything back is if you maxed out an RA on the side or had huge medical or disability expenses outside medical aid contributions.

Have you checked it against this ?

No RA contribution? That is the biggest contributor to returns.

Hey guys,

I submitted on Saturday and got selected for verification. I feel like I'm part of the adults now.

I've seen a few people here got selected, but has anyone had a rough time with them? Like if you made an honest mistake and they fix it, would one get penalized?

I did things as I usually did, and uploaded all teh docs, so there is 100% transparency from my side. But part of me is wondering if I messed up.

I used the calculate function and it does not sure Medical Aid on the calculation. My employer does not deduct this on payslip and the Medical Aid details are populated in eFiling. Is there a reason it is not showing on the calculation?

If you make a genuine mistake you aren't penalised. In my experience the verification people are nice, it just takes a long time.

Had a look at my return from last year, seems like the medical aid contribution deduction falls under rebates

Depends on verification, Ive had good and bad experiences.
Bad experiences SARS refused to accept my ITB3 form as proof of interest and just closed my return and said I owed them. Argued, fought, disputed, took about 3 months

In other times, I have supplied the documentation (which is the same every year), as I have been audited each year, and it is completed in 2 to 3 weeks.

A strange request was that I had to write a letter explaining why I made a loss on my rentals, I mean, the information is purely mathematica
