Showmax hikes prices

Showmax price increase

MultiChoice has announced price increases for its Showmax Entertainment plans that will kick in on 1 August 2024.

Its standard Showmax Entertainment plan will increase by 11% from R89 to R99 per month, while the mobile plan will increase by 15% from R39 to R45 per month.
 
Nothing in that article appeals to me.

Rather pay netflix, prime and even Disney at worst, although I'm not paying for all of those simultaneously.

Aint market freedom and apps great.
 
Typical South African response. Not getting enough subscribers so increase price instead of decreasing. It's what got DSTV premium in the s--t. I cut the cord years ago and with streaming have not missed DSTV at all.
 
Well they need to first sort out their android TV app - have been unable to watch Showmax 2.0 since they launched on any of my Android TV boxes, only works on my LG TV.

As an early adopter of Showmax, even before going public I eventually pulled the plug this week on them.
 
typical South Africans bitching about a small price increase. Price for EPL alone is worth admission
 
The Premier league package, if you can watch it on a TV normally is damned good value for money if you're a soccer fan actually.

The writing was on the wall years ago as the world moved to streaming, yet they actually sat and watched while thousands of people got out of the habit of watching rugby as subscribers numbers fell as DStv prices rose.

And still they sit on their hands.

Have you uninstalled the old app and installed the new one? As I've got it working on 2019 Mi Box S without any hitches.
 
Not in the demographic that Showmax is targeting, no lessons learnt from DStV then

Old app is "embedded" as bloatware on my devices. Disabled app, but the issue with the new app is constant stutters. It feels like Youtube on DialUp.
