ShowMax video and sound problems

Disabling UnoTelly seems to result in video streaming from South African servers, and dramatically improves the quality of the stream.

This will be a non issue when Unotelly adds support to ShowMax to Dynamo.

I won't sign up until there is a ROKU app. It is the only way I watch series and movies now and I will rather wait than go back to a laptop of tablet.

Thanks for the update Jan.

Sync was my biggest gripe. Once they have resolved this in full I might give it another free trial.

So according to Naspers there are more Apple TV users that would sign up to the service than PS4 & Xbox....interesting.

FTFY.

Remember a lot of console owners don't have them connected to the internet. While I'd wager almost every single Apple device has internet connectivity.

It;s a pity the Samsung Smart TV store is limited to SA. Kinda need that to be US based too :-/ else Netflix, Hulu, amazon etc can't co-exist (the Samsung Smart TVs wipe apps on region change)

Sounds to me like ShowMax have all the answers. They say that all the problems are small ones experienced by only a few people.
Actually they don't know what they are doing. The are just so desperate to gain market share before Netflix arrives

I'm pretty sure they're already behind in market share, and Netflix hasn't even officially launched yet.

Apparently only a "small number" of users are complaining about video quality. Has anyone ever got close to 720p? I get between 240 and 360.

I had no idea ShowMax doesn't support 1080p or rooted phones. Guess they won't be picking me up as a customer any time soon.

Same here. I'm not ponying up R99 to watch it in my ipad.

Why not offer videos in 1080p?

Due to the bandwidth challenges in South Africa, we decided to launch with support for video streams of up to 720p.

We do plan to offer 1080p streaming in future for content available in full HD.

Why not provide the option already in the beginning to subscribers?

Yes but the Apple TV isn't really a supported device in SA so there aren't a whole lot that sold.

On the flipside we have thousands of Playstations and Xbox's.

*****

Case in point I'm a full blown Apple-geek yet don't own an Apple TV because the service offering is seriously limited in SA.
