Skyworth Binge Android TV box

Network port is only 100Mbit port, so if you want to play 4K rips over the network it may be better to use the wifi actually if you have a fast AC access point.

I was playing more with the audio, it will decode DTS, DTS-HD MA and Dolby Digital (AC-3). It doesn't decode Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC-3) or TrueHD. It'll decode those and pass multichannel PCM through to the receiver, just wish the passthrough worked :/

Also annoying that 4K Youtube doesn't work so all 4K videos on Youtube will max out at 720p.

Coming to all major retailers soon - Game, Dion Wired , Incredible Connection. Available already at Takealot.

Any opinions on when it will be available at retailers and on the price compared to the Takealot price ?

Installed netflix on mine using the info found on the Lit box thread, very quick and easy. Its not the full HD version tho.
 
Anyone figured out how to access dstv schedules on this device? Only shows live tv channels and what's on at that moment.......
 
So I got mine this morning. Unfortunately can't compare to MiBox and Lit, but I found that the quality was really good, from packaging to the tiny box itself.

Setup was a breeze, either using your phone or enter google account details.

I'm liking the interface for AndroidTV Oreo, it's responsive and quite nippy browsing around apps etc.

I'll be using it primarily for DSTV Now, and it works fine, image quality is good. Here's hoping their servers can hold out during high demand. (Probably not)

Overall happy with the device, especially with the price. And if it breaks I deal with Takealot or Skyworth, not Telkom.
 
Hi everyone,

I got mine today and was super excited to get working on it. BUT cannot get past the CHECKING FOR UPDATES page!! It is connected to WiFi as I setup the connection. So dunno what the hell to do. Very annoying. Any ideas??

That link is just an example. Google how to get into recovery mode/reset on a Xiaomi Mi Box - it involves pressing buttons on the remote simultaneously etc .

It is all running Android TV , so hopefully there are similarities in the recovery /reset.

Hi

Had the same issue. Switched it of (unplugged power cable) and on and got back to language screen. Scrolled down to choose different English and it worked from there.
 
Hi have you got a link. Side installed Netflix but doesn't show under my apps. If I install can open app from there and it works.
