Skyworth Binge Android TV box

How about Netflix? Does it really not support Netflix? Doesn't seem to be a straight answer to to Netflix compatibility.

Officially...........no - it doesn't.

Have a look at the reviews on takealot.com. Many users provide feedback there on how they got Netflix to work.

It is not the box itself that doesn't "support" it. It is Netflix being iffy about products that are allowed to run their app.

Unhappy with my box to date - every time I turn the unit on (after having the unit powered off from the remote), the language keeps changing to chinese.

I have to constantly change the language back to english.
I also have tried to connect my harddrives to the box - unit does NOT recognise these drives (I dont see how various volume types are still yet to be configured as this is a media box in essence).

Box does not have a web browser built in - nor can I install chrome from the playstore. I am actually keen on returning this unit back to takealot if these issues are not resolved in the next few days.

The language issue you can fix by turning off the HDMI CEC auto language option.

The external hard drive issue is probably due to there not being any support for NTFS in the current firmware, apparently they're fixing this and there is an update coming very soon.

Fix coming for the HDD issue - as far as I know FAT32 formats work.

As for browser - there is a quick guide in the product description on how to load a browser form the Playstore using voice commands.

Unfortunately, Google has marked Chrome as incompatible with Android TV. This affects all certified Android TV boxes. We have logged a query with them, but it does relate to the TV specific optimizations.

Does anybody else's device also randomly turn itself back on every time it is turned off by the remote?

There is a known bug with Chromecast. You can try clear the app and data for Chromecast Built in (under settings, Apps, wait for the apps to load then scroll down to the Chromecast Built in). This works only for a percentage of users. This is confirmed resolved in the early August update.

Has this update been released yet (I haven't looked)?

Just need some clarification.. When i plug this device into my Marantz HDMI PORT and then to the TV, On power up i get a flashing image for about 20 seconds then it settles down and is fine. No sound though. You have to then go to the sound settings and toggle up and down a couple of times before the sound is heard on my surround amp.

Any ideas on what causes this? Direct to the TV it works fine, Sound is still an issue though.

Any ideas as to when the update is coming with all the fixes in it??

Help would be appreciated.

Hi All

Can anyone confirm if auto frame rate switching is working on this box? As far as I can see it does not work, resulting is stuttering in kodi playback?

Are they working on the frame rate issue for the next firmware? I hope so as I use kodi a lot.

Okay thanks. I hope they get it on their radar to fix in future. Without it this box is pretty much useless for anything else than DSTV and showmax

Ye, right now it's only really useful for Youtube (and that's also broken with the latest Youtube app).

Any movie watching is useless as both the refresh rate switching and multichannel audio support is non-existent.

As posted elsewhere, we are still in the certification phase with Google. I will update as soon as the app is available. The certification phase should normally take a couple of weeks, but this is also dependent on Google.
