Yep, this is a common issue with Android devices - if you don't have root access you can't give yourself permission to write to external devices. So it needs to be enabled on the firmware / OS side by the vendor.

(To the other poster above - NTFS write access on non-Windows devices has been fixed for about 20 years)
 
Has anyone tried this box with Kodi and does audio passthrough work correctly for local files (DTS all the way up to Atmos)?
 
I noticed my Xiaomi Mi Stick in my office works correctly with HDMI CEC and I can even use my tv remote to control it.

However, CEC has never worked with my Skyworth Binge or my new Leap S1. Are there any plans to fix this?
 
Bought 2 x Skyworth Leap S1 android boxes today.

They are on special at Incredible Connection for R1099 which is not bad.

Happy with it. Works very well as expected.

Do you perhaps run kodi on it? If so could I ask a huge favor... a debug log of kodi starting up to see what audio formats its firmware supports?

Edit: hmm.. Thinking about it, it might depend what device is at the end of the hdmi chain and what settings the leap is set to. So it might be a bit more than a 5 min exercise. Let me know if you're still up for it though.

Pps. The mecool km2 I bought last week seems identical. It even identifies as a Leap-S1 too on the box and electronically in the OS.

It doesn't have all the ports of this but the Mi TV stick is a better buy with the things it supports especially AV1 decoding.

Which streamers support AV1 right now? And are the benefits that pronounced for me the viewer?

To the best of my knowledge, the Xiaomi 4k Streaming Stick, the Fire TV 4K MAX Streaming Stick and the Realme 4K streaming stick are the only devices that currently support AV1 codec. AV1 codec is reported to be up to 30% more efficient than current codecs. Which would in all likelihood translate into a better streaming experience - especially those of us with less than perfect internet.

However it has some hefty encoding requirements, so not sure how fast it is going to be adopted but Google is pushing it hard so , yeah, who knows ...

Netflix and YouTube already use it, for the end user it's going to be better image quality and less bandwidth required and like stated above it's being pushed pretty hard, Google requires all new Android TV boxes to have AV1 support if they want to be certified.

Thanks for information fellas. I think one can hold off having to buy AV1 supported players for now, they'll naturally become standard in due time.
