Smart outdoor security cameras in SA?

@ jdido87 Those aluminium frame windows are a popular target - my neighbour has been hit a couple of times but has found a decent solution. Get some long shank pop rivets (long enough to extend through the beading and the actual frame), then once you've replaced the rubber seal, window pane and 45-degree beadings that secure everything, drill through the beading and frame at suitable intervals and rivet the beadings in place. Inexpensive, nice and tidy and will deter most idiots.

We going to get a smaller breed dog to stay inside. I can't keep this guy inside overnight yet. He is 8 months old and tends to still bite things now and then.

The front beam is on when the alarm is on stay. They gained entry via the neighbors property at the rear and there is no beam there. Putting in one tomorrow.

That is a cool plan. I was thinking of sticking door magnets to the glass itself in the event that they remove the glass the alarm will be triggered. A beam at the back will sort out this issue. I am really impressed with the TAKEX180 I have infront.

I will add another TAKEX180 to the backyard on Monday.

Will the EZVIZ C3N and/or C3X be a decent addition to the other security measures or are there better cameras.

Will be getting 2 more GSDs as well and taking them for some security training.

No burglar bars?

If no, then I'd rather get those before cameras. Even with cameras they'd still be able to enter the house... and that's obviously what you don't want. Cameras sadly don't scare the thieves that much as we think.
 
Hi All

My Ezviz setup includes CX3 and Color Night vision camera.
CX3 Human Detection only up to 10m, useless.
Color Night Vision 1.5m detection, useless.
I would not recommend these cameras at all. (Good enough for front and back entrance)
I have tweaked these cameras don't get them better overall.:thumbsdown:

There are but not on the big glass windows. Recently bought this house like this. Will be putting on some bars in the week. The beam will also make aassive difference there is no security system at the back.

He alerts us to any people walking in the road. My neighbors around me are also relying on him these days. He knows them and don't bark at them at all.

Zonewatch installed my beam infront which is working good. I am calling them tomorrow to replicate at the back.

If you want colour at night, you going to need something better than Reolinks.

I want colour night vision. I watched a comparative video on YouTube between colorvu and reolinks color night vision. Colorvu the winner by far. What would make the Reolink a better camera? To me blank and white just makes no sense.
 
In this thread theres been posted colour shots by reolink at night. If you getting black and white, no adequate external lighting?

Any case I switched from 2mp hikvisions to 5mp and soon 8mp reolinks. Guess about preferences and needs and budget

Ultimately the cameras are irrelevant for security purposes. My armed response, external beams, burglar bars and internal PIRs to cover bulk of inside at night are the core. Good external motion detection plus smart wifi lighting a critical element for me personally.

Cameras simply to verify alarm false or not to determine response required.

The advantage of Reolink's is price and value for money. Its a good entry-level camera.
 
My experience is only with c3x camera, so do not have anything to compare it with.

It works fine (human detectiion and picture day and night is good), just that my notifications take sometime up to 5min before it is received on my phone.

Will the above kit suffice seeing that I have TAKEX 180 MS12FE front and back now that does the intrusion detection.

Or should I stay away from analogue completely.
 
Personally prefer digital but a good price given that my 2 x Reolink cameras on their way cost me about R2500. (Edit almost R3k if add R360 for customs)

But you should be able to still link to an app or view via internet?

But not an expert.
