Ezviz compatible with google assistant and alexa? etc so not too stressed.

What camera system has POE and mix and match ?

Surely I can use any nvr or poe switch with the cameras?

Willing to live with lockdown unless any other recommendations.

Not a DIYer so even POE a bit painful exercise but willing to undergo labour effort to avoid batteries.

Order from AliExpress. It has a cloud option but I don't use it.

Any local installer can install it, been using for 5 years now but I installed myself.

If you were to set up a 6 camera system with local storage (on a nvr or pc harddrive) and poe options but with option to expand to 16 cameras.

What would you buy?

I considered the Wyze but battery only and thats too expensive (my external beams and PIRs all already wireless battery operated).

The ezviz brilliant but cloud storage and expansion options all locked into the ezviz ecosystem and I don't like sd card option.

Thanks not at all bad ... just price cant compete with ezviz.

Its frustrating ... I don't want to invest and realise its a mistake.

Wyze out because no poe options.

I love Wyze as its cloud storage free iirc. And with an outdoor cover can be used outside.

My issue is fact that it operates battery only. No POE option.

With a bunch of wireless alarm beams I don't have the appetite for more batteries to be replaced eventually.

The Wyze Cam and Wyze Cam Pan require 5VDC, which doesn't have to be supplied by battery. There are a few different ways of getting power to these cameras without involving batteries.

I think cloud storage of 12-second clips is free for 14 days, anything else and you'll need to pay. Or just use an onboard SD card and view remotely.

I am completely ignorant ... only figured out today that an NVR provides/can provide POE.

Apologies I see Wyze cam has no battery ... my issue was that I want to power camera over poe/power (but preferably poe to reduce traffic on wifi) but have a battery as backup. Not run on battery only as batteries last a short while and cost a penny to replace. This is where the ezviz works? It has battery?

However, I have decided to invest in a 500w inverter so guess battery backup issue falls away.

So Wyze vs Ezviz ...

But please recommend specific cameras, preferably obtainable from Takealot (as I have a credit) or Aliexpress as they cheap .

I am so clueless I only realised yesterday 2mp = 1080p . Thus love ezviz system ito diy ease but dont like being locked into their system.

I think you should speak to a professional, tell them your requirements and get them to build a system for you.

In most cases, you get what you pay for.

1. Power via poe or normal power but optional battery as backup for loadshedding (but investing in an inverter once prices and stock settle as one I wanted out of stock)

2. At least 1 or 2 with lights (like the ezviz lc1 or ring security light)

3. Others about 4 to 6 just static nightvision.

4. Basically just to be able to see when external beams triggered.

5. Expandability required to add internal cameras as well.

6. Doorbell/gate camera with 2 way audio optional

You’re aware that the Wyze cams don’t have an ethernet port? So you’ll need to adapt from CAT5/whatever to a micro USB to supply the cam with power.
