My issue was being locked into ezviz ecosystem ito video feed.
I think ezviz best home security other than the lock in. Pity.

I think ezviz best home security other than the lock in. Pity.
Will link all my cameras to backup power.
Ordered one of these cams as a sample - finally arrived and installed.
1.) Seller is useless - was completely unresponsive over weeks, the tracking wasn't updated at all (on the international side, came by Post Office as expected) - and I was eventually refunded by aliexpress, the camera arrived a month later. This alone means I probably won't consider the camera for a bulk order by proper courier.
2.) The quality is pretty good, build and video - I ordered the 4Mb camera - better than the cheap chinese crap I've had in the past - now to see if it lasts.
3.) Only complaint around build quality is the ability to rotate the camera - the direction I need to point it from the wall box means the video is 90 degrees out, or needs to be displayed as portrait.
Really not a bad camera for R500 odd (or free in this case - I'm not contacting the seller to refund him after the fact, as I usually do - considering he had no interest in the item lost in transit)
I'm going to order a Reolink camera for comparison next.
Also need to find a decent NVR...
I have the NVR from the same seller, haven't tried the 4MP only have 1 and 2MPs.
5 years and going strong. One of them has the IR burnt out though but it's the old tech ones.
Anyone have opinions on cheap NVRs? Thinking of ordering this. Currently recording to my NAS - but its taking strain with the 5MP camera's.

You best bet is to get an i7 or decent i5 pc and run blue iris on it for one simple yet very important reason,reducing false motion detection using AI!
Blue iris can also work with almost any brand of camera unlike a branded NVR so this is another important aspect for somebody wanting to mix brands of camera's.
I'm more interested in the recording - buidling a dedicated PC will be over 10x the cost...
The problem i found with using a board is getting the enclosure and fan to fit and modifying the enclosure , a real PITA , worth just buying the complete NVR/DVR .
Bought this one , it works ok , software is basic , no bells and whistles like moving the cameras around with the mouse to different locations on the screen .
Bought the 16 Chanel , the H265+ makes a big difference in the amount of HD space that is taken up by the recording it is less than half the space of H264 , i am running a 3Tb drive and it takes 3 weeks to fill it , was using a 6TB before for same amount of time .The sofware on the one you want to buy looks the same as my board .
Next time i upgrade i think i am going to go Blueiris and a PC but that will be in the future , still running some AHD and analogue cams for my PTZ's .

At R500 for the board you want to buy , that is a bargain .
A POE switch will cost that for POE cams .
I am on my fourth system over the years , as cash becomes available i get the itch to upgrade .
I run 13 cameras some very good and some soso . 5 decent network cams 3 POE .
I currently have 4 outside - sold the DLink cams I had inside. But wasn't recording off the DLink.
I added two outside cams just before lock-down - but can see the CPU on the NAS is sitting at a contstant 60% - from basically idling - hence wanting to move to a dedicated NVR (or something).
Got my wife to order these two today: One and Two
What NAS you have? My recording is done via VM on my NAS and its writing to an unassigned disc so it doesn't interfere with the rest of the NAS activities.
Lots of docker options available too.
Depending on how light the recording software is, it shouldn't impact CPU at all. I know I have it 2 cores and 2 gig ram and it uses hardly anything.

A Buffalo TS4800D (I'll never buy the brand again)... using its own propriety recording - I haven't looked at in in detail , but want to keep the NVR seperate from the NAS anyway, its a 32TB RAID6 array of my most important stuff.
Ahh ok. I'm using unraid so that gives you a ton of flexibility. Via an old PC made from Carbonite parts.

Be careful some,like this one ,still need a POE switch.....I got lucky on gumtree or olx found a 24 port dell server grade POE switch for R500,when I went to collect he had another one with a faulty fan that he let me have for R100,replaced the fan for R50 and boom 2 x dlink 24 port server type POE switches for R650!

Ordered a reolink argus 2 plus solar panel. Expensive in comparison to my wyzes but want an outside solution compatible with google home.
Hope its worth it.
For now I prefer wireless to be online with my wireless beams.
Other externals I'll invest in standard cameras but for specific area I prefer a quick reliable solution.
Sadly my budget cannot afford a alternate to Eskom as yet.
