Not at the Post Office though, they will only accept the total including outstanding fines printed on the renewal notice. You need to visit the Licensing Dept to pay just for the licence renewal.

Even the Post Office is not allowed to do that... its not legal, regardless of where you are paying it.

I get so pissed at those people who always act all self-righteous and politically correct when they aren't the ones under the bus, but let the tables turn and the moment they are, you see a pile of dust where they are the ones kicking up the fuss. (hey, I could be a poet :p)

And I am specifically referring to the three people that ooze the self-righteous attitude in this thread.

If I am such a criminal for not coming to an ABSOLUTE COMPLETE halt then why in 2002 (although the year in this case it shouldn't matter. The opinion is the same) did the principal inspector of Bloemfontein traffic police HIMSELF state the following:

SOURCE: http://www.carmag.co.za/news_post/how-much-will-that-be-officer/
“Personally, I also do not agree with fining motorists who do not come to a complete stop at a stop sign. If there are no other cars approaching, a driver should be able to just do a quick check and then keep driving,” Van Vuuren said.

To all you people that believe that you DILIGENTLY ALWAYS and FOREVER stop COMPLETELY to a DEAD HALT, pull up your handbrake and sommer do the whole FULL K53 manuevers when at a stop street, well kudos to you but you're living in dreamland if you think we all believe you.

Revokes OP can-complain-about-taxis card...

Not sure what you were trying to prove with this statement.

I did NOT say I was not guilty. I am only asking what I can do to get it reduced or something.

Wolvyreen, just go to the traffic department/licensing office and ask for a reduction on the fine. Tell the officer that you did stop but the policeman disagreed with you. Complain for a while that you're law abiding and on top of that you're nearly broke etc. It will be slashed by more than half... If you don't want to pay anything at all, take it to court. It will be dismissed about several court visits and a couple of months.

One night Rodney was driving home along a road he knew well. When he reached the Stop sign he slowed down but did not actually come to a halt, whereupon a police officer pulled Rodney's car over.

'What difference does it make' said Rodney, 'slow down or stop'. 'I will give you a demonstration' said the officer and starting beating Rodney with his truncheon.' Now would you like me to slow down - or stop?

And you posted this, why? This thread has NOTHING to do with my innocence or guilt. It has to do with getting it reduced.

Then go to the PP in your area and ask for a reduction,

All this thread is doing is making you look like a bit of a twat.

I hate some of these cowards who look for easy victims to issue fines to. Same thing happens with some stupid parking laws in Cape Town and those bastards love giving out tickets to easy targets. Absolute nonsense.

totally agreed! i'm not innocent and I never claimed to be. but I feel that this douchebag actually took the time to sit and wait in a quite neighborhood in a construction area so he could catch the next person who didn't completely stop at the stop sign.

Check your facts about who the twat is! Had he taken the time to actually read the thread and get the correct context, he would have seen that that little storey had already been posted on the first page on this thread.

I'm pretty sure I have outstanding fines against my name - recently renewed my car license with no issue at that local PO.

I would add self-righteous haters.

I'm missing the problem.

You broke the law, you got a fine for doing so...

Do you somehow believe that the law regarding stopping at a stop street is unjust? Or is it just that you should be viewed in a different light to everyone else.

Help me here, I'm struggling to see the problem.

You are definitely missing the problem. I did not say I was innocent. Not sure how many more times I have to say this. This is not about innocence or guilt. AGAIN, it is about how to get it reduced.

Everyone else is making it about innocence or guilt.

1) Harsh fine for a minor infringement
2) How do I reduce this fine?

End of file.

Why do you believe it should be reduced?

You broke the law - and you got fined an amount that is set out in said law that you broke.

Again; what's the problem?

Because paying the full amount is a waste of money when you can pay less...

There is that self-righteous behavior I was talking about. Next time you get a fine in your inbox, you tell me if you wouldn't prefer it reduced or not. Then come back here and review your comments. Do you ALWAYS pay the full amount? even when its in the thousands? Or a better question, do you pay all your fines? I only ask because there are people that don't

thank you! seems some people actually understand the context of this thread.

On what grounds would you plead the case that your fine is reduced?
