These are the two 5G routers you can buy in South Africa

Mobile network operators in South Africa such as Rain, MTN, and Vodacom have been working on expanding their 5G accessibility in the country, and their fixed wireless access packages often include a compatible router.

However, South Africans wishing to buy their own 5G router for their home or business have limited options — two, to be exact.

Buy cheap 5G phone and use it. lol. Better compatibility too
Good luck doing that for the Fixed networks.
MTN only allows approved devices on their fixed networks. To the best of my knowledge (happy to be proven wrong) this does not include phones.

The 5G options are ridiculous, nothing to choose from and insanely expensive?

Why is that, do 5G routers use some really expensive chip that’s in shortage currently?

It’s significantly cheaper just to buy a 5G phone and use that as a Hotspot, which is bizarre.

It’s a pity the article didn’t bother to find out why 5G routers are in such short supply and so expensive in Sa, mylesillidge ?

I hope now you realize why people sell rain Huawei routers for R4K or R2K as second hand device is not that they want to rob rain they address supply chain issue

Those are pointless though because they are locked to Rain, how much did you sell your one for?
