Statistical definition: "possible"

I'd reckon that your statistical definitions as described would be most accurate, although there probably are no exact definitions.

No, there are no such definitions...
You can assign terms to your own probabilities if you want, just make sure to define what you're trying to convey.

Jip, there's not a specific probability in "possible". In statistics you get a probability distribution, and based on that distribution you can calculate probabilities for a given distribution function.

Weird forum for this :D

i would assume possible = <> 0%
Yes if the probability of something happening is greater than 0 then it is possible for that thing to happen

Is there a statistical definition for "possible"? Like 50% or something and then probable is 75%?
No this is wrong.

For something to be possible means it can happen, no matter how small the chance, but some things are more probable than others....

It depends on the context.

If the guy tells you "It is possible that Telkom will lower their prices soon" , then it's 0.00000001%

If the guy tells you "Sure, it is possible to jump off that bridge" ...then it is 99.99999% .

If it's any weather related person saying "It's possible that it will rain today"..then it's 50%.
