Steam - Like or Dislike

I absolutely love Steam. never have to worry about losing the cd or box. The Steam folder is saved on my one drive, so reinstalles doesnt mean I have to download all my games again.

The most I have paid for a game was $60 and that was for CoD BO. The rest all on special :)

Thanx for the Trine reminder....just spent another few bucks :)

O and uncapped or lots of bandwith is the key.

MWEB  Steam

They dont shape at all.... I was downloading today from a USA site at a massive 30KB/sec and fired up Steam to download the Dungeon Siege 3 demo... was humming at 350KB/sec the whole time

:D

Or it could be like I had in Feb. I bought a Steam box game from Look&Listen and when I tried to activate the game it said Key was already active. There is a Retrieve key option for that on the site. I had to take a photo of my Game + receipt and wrote the ticket number on the CD key label.
They moved the game into my account so when I logged into Steam the game was in my library and I could just hit install & play.
The reason they dont take Photo's of the Just Box+CD only is because you get a lot of Pirate games that also copy the box 100%.

You were lucky. Years ago I bought Orange Box retail but didn't install for a few weeks 'cos I didn't know I had to sort my internet connection out first. When trying to activate I found out my key was already in use. Unfortunately I had lost my receipt by then, and to this day no amount of pleading with Valve would let them help me. I send them photos of the box, the CD's, the activation card with the activation code on it .. nothing. They just took the line of no receipt, no joy.

So I still have one Orange Box, bought but never played on my shelf.

Hmm .. anyone with a valid keygen for playing Orange Box online? **** them.

Oi you overtook me, when did you get 286 games on steam!

:p

The sam and maxes added a huge amount. And guys, I can honestly say of that whole lot, I probably only paid full price for COD:BO ( not worth it ) and Portal 2 ( freaking awesome! ), rest were all specials.

I tend to only spend in the region of under $10. Thats R70, comeon people thats not much at all!

BTW czc dude, I can't play that Amnesia, that f***** atmosphere kills me and I have high blood pressure dammit.

When the portal2 dlc coming? we must play moar!

that gewd??

It's strange and freaky ( is a indie game too ). Have you ever played Cathulu? They also had this strange mysterious vibe but the atmosphere is top class if you play with head phones. The only other game that gets me going like that is the marine in AVP 1 and Doom3 for some reason.

*Edit* oh and steam is only something I use when I'm bored in EVE :p

Dude, you blond?

We in SA they have no clue what shops we have, you could easily have faked it :)

Dead Rising 2 - On a Steam mid-week special for R134

At Kalahari the same game costs R374

Sold!

Dislike. Not because of how it operates, that has potential (when SA has proper internet), but because of an incident that happened to me. Had CS Source and lost my CD key. When I tried to install it a year or two later to play again, I went through the long process of retrieving CD key. I got email after email telling me to send a picture of CD key so they could varify it was my game. So I sent an email back explaining I lost it, along with pictures of the box and disc. Still, 4 times in total, I got the same response of send a picture of my CD key. Since then, I've hated them. Oh and I didn't ever get my CD key.

If you lose the box and CD-key for any retail game you lost the game too?
Also it is your fault for forgeting your steam account details as it is locked to your account.

I Like steam...
...except when it randomly freezes

No.1 Problem with steam, I get a backlog of games I want to play from sales :D

There's something that annoys me: that a program with my birth date listed in the account keeps asking me when I was born whenever I want to view a store page link.

YOU HAVE MY AGE, STOP ASKING ME FOR IT!

Agreed, does it happen in both the browser AND the client url? Same thing happens on GameTrailers too.

Yup. I could understand it happening in the browser (if not logged in) but ffs... when you're LOGGED IN (in both client and/or browser) seriously, YOU KNOW MY AGE. Nothing irritates me more than being asked, especially for a game I already own.

I generally just scroll and click some random year...

Reason I thought of this now was because I accidentally clicked 1994... So.. *GASP* OH NOES U R TEH UNDERAGE NO CAN LOOK! FFS... Then you have to kill the bloody Steam client to go through it again...

Arrrghhh so much teh annoyances.

LIKE, especially with WA's FreeZone feature, downloading and updating all my games without any hassle :D Not to mention all their specials :p
