SWC in SA a "BIG MISTAKE"!

LancelotZA and moggie, just ignore the SA FAIL brigade. I mean, we tell them we are not saying that crime is not a problem, but that if we are more pro active we can contribute to making the country safer and how, even though we understand that we have issues with crime that it is not on the verge of being ungovernable etc etc. And all they see is, we are saying that "We don't have crime in SA." Really has anyone said that?

Let me put it in bold so the SA FAIL Brigade can understand. We understand that SA does have crime and that it is affecting many people. What we do not accept is the notion that every tourist that comes to SA is going to be raped and murdered. We are also saying that we as South Africans can do more than just b!tch and moan about it.

Hmmm, it's funny though, because, the UK's own government statistics seem to support what he is saying. Out of the amount of tourists that came to SA only 0.03% had issues. Oh yes, that is just a government statistic, I forgot, only what biased media say is real.:rolleyes: Where are your statistics by a reputable, credible source, to back up your claims.

I'm sorry but you can't just say you can use the same argument when it cannot possibly apply to me. I am not forcing people to come to this country. They are doing so of their own free will. I am not luring them here under the false pretence that there is no crime whatsoever! You on the other hand are desperate to convince people that do have a desire to come here not to. TOTALLY DIFFERENT!

I also quite happily posted stats from the UK government showing UK residents who have required assistance in this country. I hardly think 0.03% is a particularly high stat!! Of course you all chose to ignore that and carried on bleating on about your maid's, sister's, neighbour's, friend who knew someone who got held up!

You are not speaking out about crime. You are wallowing in your own self pity. You want to get revenge on the country. You think this will make you feel better. As stated, volunteer for the world cup. Meet and greet tourists and inform them how to be safe. Join the reservists or your local neighbourhood watch. But no of course, you do none of these as it is easy to just bitch on here! That of course will keep tourists safe!

Actually that site is useless for tourists as it is for residents to report crime in their area. How will this help tourists? A tourist will not know where the corner of X and Y is!

Now the site I posted earlier where tourists can register and have someone in this country provide them with assistance and regular calls to see if they are ok. Of course you could not admit that this is better advice as I posted it. You have no desire to assist tourists. Your only desire is to ensure you can spread your hatred for this country!

I provided more than one option. If you feel the reservists will serve you best then good for you. There are local community watches. There is volunteer work during the world cup. Apply your mind and expend all the energy used on being negative to finding solutions and we may actually get somewhere. Otherwise of course there is the easy option. Just emigrate!
 
The government feels the same way lance. Why should they care about the crime, should we work everyday and patrol at nights? Who needs sleep when we have policing to do.

So what's your plan to do anything? Ah, of course you don't want to do anything. Way to go. LancelotZA gives ideas to contribute as a citizen to the reduction of crime. I'm sure this is what everyone wants, oh wait, then there will be nothing to moan about.

Please man, my father, when he was alive, worked hard all his life. He began working from the age of 15. He had not finished his education yet, and yet he did. He then did correspondence courses in engineering and then climbed the ranks in the company he worked for. All the while he belonged to a program that was similar to what is now called a neighborhood watch program, where they would patrol the neighborhood at night , sometimes having to do this the whole night because people would not show up to take the next shift. The next morning he would go to work and then in the evening have a little sleep before going out to patrol again. Of course this did not happen every night, most nights the shift changes would be done. He thought of it as his responsibility, and no one else's to protect his family.

Hmm when you kiddies were in diapers, I went to the border, did camps etc. I've done my patrols..to keep my community safe..and for what..so that I can pay for security and do patrols as well again..GET REAl..no-one appreciated it then, neither will they now, fat lot it helped anyway??!

truly, I planned to buy a WC ticket since last year .....

but I really struggle to get one because of "security" issue.

I don't believe SAPS can protect the crowds like in WC, I don't trust SA intelligence agency has the ability to avoid terror attacks. Even I don't trust the drivers on the road just after a match they NEVER drunk driving..... etc.....

May be the foreigners they never have a clue what is the real situation in SA (you know someone still thinks Africa = South Africa, what a joke :D), but as a SA citizen, I have enough evidences to tell myself not to go to any dangerous places during the worldcup (including a match).
I will rather buy a WC ticket next time ........ :)

I don't think that is fair. Some people do become victims because they do something stupid, but it can be nothing more than being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
 
Nobody is bitching, we are just saying crime is a problem and tourists should be aware that crime is REAL problem in this country. If pointing this out is bitching then so be it.

Everybody has a job, and as far as i know we have a police force, SO THEY SHOULD BE DOING THEIR JOB while i do my job to get by in life. The answer to crime is not us doing something about but the government and the police force doing their jobs and sorting it out.
