Hi
One day when I got home I noticed there was an AA battery lying on the floor of my pool. It probably fell in there (I have no idea how this happened).

Anyway, it has left some type of brownish stain in the area it fell (battery acid obviously leaked).

My question is:
a) How do I get rid of that stain (without draining the pool)
b) It's been 3 weeks now since the incident, so will it be safe to swim in there?

Any advice welcome.

one AA battery worth of acid in a swimming pool is nothing to worry about. That brownish stain sounds to me like "residue" from the rusting battery, grab your pool brush and try scrubbing it off. Also you didn't mention what type of pool lining you have?

And that battery probably got there from kids throwing them in.

Buy some dry pool acid from a pool shop (granular form)
Take the aluminium pole from your pool net or brush (remove the brush or net so that you're only left with the pole) - you can also use any rigid pipe or similar hollow device.
Position the one end of the pole over the stain.
Pour some of the granular / dry acid down the inside of the pole so that it drops directly over the stain and covers it.
Wait about 20seconds & then using a pool brush or similar, brush the dry acid powder away.
The stain should be either gone or much better.
You can repeat this process again if needed but don't overdo it.
