I would much much much rather have the std 5GB cap bumped to 30GB instead of doubling my line speed.

Besides, getting excited about download speeds less than 1Megabyte/sec is just not worth it.

Im in Monte Vista
My modem is mentioning sum new info.
my down sync dropped from 4000 odd to 3619. and it's now showing adsl2.
Here's hoping my speed goes back to normal or higher.... :p;):D

Attainable Rate (Kbps): 8464 1156 :erm:
Rate (Kbps): 3619 507

What bothers me is how they will be advertising this. Will it be up to 8Mbps?

Currently its up to 4Mbps - so if you have bad copper you will sync at lower speeds. If you are currently stuck at 1, 2 or 3Mbps then the new 8Mbps isn't going to help you jack!

I live right next door to the Barrack street exchange in town, thought that they would trial there. guess not..

My internet has been down from yesterday 1pm already... In the Parow area it seems.

totaly insane to have 8mb lines with 3gb caps

i hope these morons catch a wake up.

I have not seen any sign of it yet here in Joburg... but I'm hoping that both my exchange at home and at the office gets upgraded by April Next year! :D

384 will be upgrade to 512 i've heard. Honestly can't see why some people on here expect 384 lines to be upgraded too 8MB too for these tests, obviously they will upgrade the people who've been paying the most in the last couple of years (the 4MB users) instead of the others.

Who will you upgrade if you were Telkom, the person paying R150 per month or the person paying R500 per month. :)

No one expected 384 to go to 8mb, we just expect it to be upgraded along with the 8mb upgrade.

The speed gap between 4mb and 512 already looks ridiculous on paper.

I wouldnt mind having a 4meg line now...
But Ill be happy with a bump to 1MBps eventually from 384.
Where do I check on my mega 100WR router what they are using? If it is ADSL2+ or what ever else? Its not on the front page when I log in

having a faster line doesnt meen you will use more b/w. having a faster line my encourage you to watch more youtube vids, or download a few more movies which will deduct from your cap faster. but if you plan on doing what you do every other day, you dont need more cap.
