Telkom Adsl modems hacked wirelessly

It has been found that the Mega xxx range of Telkom ADSL routers are easily hacked into via the wireless interface. This poses a serious threat as the hacker can either do malicious damage, use your bandwidth and will be able to access your username/password. This report was published on the IT Web.

Absolutely. But Telkom recommend (in fact, straight out tell you) NOT to change the default password because then they can't give it to you if you forget it!

I change my WPA key and router password about once every two weeks.

Don't they know about the "reset to factory defaults" button? If the user forgot his username/password, just reset to factory defaults...

But then they'd have to tell you how to set all the other settings up again as well! It's just sooo much easier to tell you not to change the password.
